Jefferson is a decent school, but not great. My child was in a class last year with a teacher who was there for more than 20 years and was done with teaching. She was overwhelmed because she had 26 or 27 kids in the class and just gave up. This year, my child has another teacher, who has also been there for more than 20 years and it's a completely different experience -- this teacher loves to teach and she makes the children love to learn. It's an amazing thing to see! Generally, there aren't any great programs going on at Jefferson because parent involvement is limited. Also, the principal is not open to new ideas, although she is a nice enough woman and does do a decent job.

My daughter is in second grade and has had a great developmental experience with Jefferson. Both the teachers, principal and parents are engaged and supportive. The pricipal, Mrs Zagotta, resolves problems quickly and easily and has great vision for the school. Most mornings, she greats and helps children out of the cars at the drop off. It's a great school.

Jefferson School is a dissappointment. There is no leadership skills from the administration. The teachers try but are held back by the lack of support from the principal. Several of the staff members are old and should retire. The children keep loosing out on being children. There is not enough time allotted for recess and there is nothing for the oldrer children to play with. The school is being overcrowded. Academically the children do ok because of the loving, involved parents.
