I love Hudson Maxim and their staff!! I grew up in Hudson County and I can tell you the differences between sussex county teachings vs. Hudson County teachings. I just think that Hudson County teachers just don't care! My son gets the most attention and the caring teachers love their jobs and want to help children with or without disabilities!! Mrs. Monro's Pre-K class is wonderful for my son! He has progressed so much in such a short time! He is still a work in progress but he has learned so much!! Very loving and caring teachers and always keeping the communication lines open with the parents. That is very important! Love this school and I'm so glad that he loves it too!!

If you have a problem with your child learning Spanish, to put it mildly, why don't you go to a private school?

My daughter just finished her two years here and my middle child is starting in September. I have to say, it's a wonderful school. I too grew up in a blue ribbon district in Bergen County, but my mother still works at that school and these kids are on par with them. The teachers here are wonderful. Mrs. Hensz, the Principal, is a warm and involved leader. They have all the extras that other K-1st graders have (gym, music, art, library, Field Day, field trips). They participate in Books & Beyond and Math-a-Thon. The 1st graders do a concert every Spring. It's a nice, well-rounded school. My daughter loved being there. Plus, they run the Safety Town program in July for the incoming Kindergarteners and my son absolutely LOVED it!

Our family is also new to the area however, so far we have been very happy with our experince, the teachers and the Principal at Hudson Maxim Elementary School. I grew up in Bergen County NJ and I would say that this school is comperable. The students here get much more personal attention than I ever got. My daughter's teacher, Mrs. Barroqueiro is very involved, focused and somehow manages to understand how each child learns best and incorporates that into her teaching. She is also wonderful about keeping the lines of communication open with parents throughout the year. My daughter gets plenty of homework but still loves school and the teachers! Overall, we are very happy with our experience there and would highly reccommend! DLake - Parent

I whole heartedly agree with the parent who feels this is the best school in the District. I commend the Principal and Teachers for their dedication to the students. Every child receives an excellent educational opportunity and a commitment to their growth in the arts, physical education and overall well being. Both children and parents receive support in any area they need. The Principal has an 'open door' policy and responds to children and parents with a 'how can I help' attitude. My child had the opportunity to have Mrs. Parello as his first grade teacher. I cannot express enough how fortunate we were to have such a special person touch our lives. I will always appreciate and look back fondly on the positive experience my child received at Hudson Maxim.

I don't know if it is the teacher or the whole school like that. Only a page a day for homework!!!!!.I asked her more and she said ok. and after 2 weekes she forgot..or didn't want to bother herself anymore.. The other staf is very nice..

This school is the best in the whole district in my opinion. The new principal is a caring and phenomenal individual. I have witnessed her go out of her way for the children on several occasions. She has a great way about her and is very approachable and makes you feel that you can approach her on anything. The teaching staff of this school are wonderfully dedicated people. I have personally experienced having my children in Mrs. Grogan's 1st grade, Mrs. Parello's 1st grade, Mrs. Sciabica's kindergarten and Mrs. Creter's kindergarten. I would not hesitate to recommend this school to anyone who is moving into our district. Every member of the staff at this school from the principal down to the custodians provide a nurturing and safe learning environment. My children always enjoyed going to school there. They also have a wonderful pre-school special education program as well.

I just to moved to Hopatcong about a year ago from Newark, NJ. I think this school is very educational. I'm not used to seeing this type of good atmosphere in a school. I like how they get the parents to participate more with their children and the school.. I think is good that they're giving kids an opportunity to learn another language. I know kids find it interesting and it can benefit them in the future. Nothing is easy but it can be done. Overall I like the great job the staff at Hudson Maxim are doing. Thank You. I would recommend this school. Mrs. Guzzo is an awesome teacher.

Forcing children to speak spanish, even though less than 6% of local population is hispanic. The answer the superintendents secretary gave us was, 'why dont you go to a private school'.
