I received an e-mail with a link to this site that I didn't know existed, asking us to write positive remarks.I was leaving this school but was told that I was locked into a contract, that I didn't think was fair due to the major changes.I will keep my opinions to myself and leave quietly next year, without signing a contract!

This review is an attempt to counter the individual who is seems to want to destroy the reputation of our school. I AM NOT A TEACHER, and I DO NOT GET A CHECK from the school. Yes, we have had to make changes in these economic times - show me any business (and yes, private schools are businesses) which has not had to make changes. The Parent's Association GAVE $19,000 because we BELIEVE in the school and the work they do with our children; the school did NOT TAKE it. Yes, we will have a table at the Mon Cnty Fair because we (the parents) believe so strongly in what our chlidren get at this school that we want other parents and children who may be struggling with the public school environment to know they have a great option. Oh yes, and one thing the previous reviewer somehow failed to mention is that the school implemented a significant (~40%) cut in tuition this year to make it more feasible for families to attend in these difficult economic times. Less tuition means a smaller budget, we must stay on budget so things have to change (I think that's what they call LIFE). I truly don't understand the need to bash the efforts we are going through to survive these hard times.

i'm not a teacher and i'm truly writing from the heart. i can honestly say that my 3 girls received an excellent academic education. the teachers there were focused on making sure the students learned. while they are a small school, they are doing their best (in this economy) to grow. a lot of excellent teachers have left but that only impacts the high school and not the the lower school. it's a wonderful place to start your young child's education in and who knows, maybe by they time they reach high school monmouth academy will be back to it's original glory of graduating doctors, lawyers, law-makers, engineers, and all the top professionals. we no longer go to MA because we're moving out of the area, and all the teachers my girls built a solid academic relationship with have left for various reasons, but i'm grateful for the excellent academic and social foundation my girls received at MA..

We have been at Monmouth Academy for 7 years. I have two daughters that attend the school and we all love the school. What I love the most is the teachers and the quality of the education. If you want a school where your children are cared for, where the teacher really knows and cares about your child, where your child is challenged and rewarded, where you can relax and trust that your child will get the best education then MA is a great choice. The economy has been a challenge for the school like everywhere, but I have faith and trust that the MA is the best place for my children and I am grateful that we have another year there and I will do everything I can to keep the school going. I LOVE Monmouth Academy !

Monmouth Academy is a FANTASTIC school at an affordable price. When I think about what I want in a school, I want a place that provides a great education AND a social environment that fosters respect for eachother and compassion as human beings. What I love most about this school is that it does both. My child attends the primary school and I can't say enough about the group of children who attend this school. They are all compassionate, polite, caring, respectful kids that treat eachother with kindness and a positive encouraging attitude. It really is a model for how a diverse group of children can come together in the right environment that fosters learning and social growth to become outstanding individuals. Combine this with incredibly small class sizes that allow for one on one interaction, tailored curriculums for each child, innovatiove ways to learn and you've got a great place ! They even teach 2 languages starting in Kindergarten - including Mandarin!

I have been a student at Monmouth Academy for the last five years. This is an amazing school with excellent teachers. I can't wait to see my friends and teachers in September. New people should stop by at our school to see how happy we are to be there. I feel insulted to read bad reviews that are absolutely not true. Come and see for yourself! Monmouth Academy is a big family!
No person in their stable mind can write a bad review about Monmouth Academy. Any respectfull organization must obey the guidelines. Therefore noone should try to break the signed contract. Rules and regulations must be followed. Monmouth Academy rocks! The level of education is way beyong any other school. Teachers have a very close relationship with kids. They know everything about the kids, even what the children are thnking. You can absolutely be sure that your kids are in good hands!

I love Momnouth Academy! I am a parent of 2 children, not a teacher. I can only say great words about this school. I would like to thank all the teachers for their hard work. It seems to me that it's the same person who is writing bad revews about such a great school. That person needs to get a life and stop doing nonsence.

Monmouth Academy is a small nuturing environment that focuses on my children's strength. Teachers know how to challenge but not overwhelm the students. The one on one attention allows them to excel academically. They love going to school and they have built a strong social circle with classmates of all ages.

Monmouth Academy is a small school which perfectly embodies the philosophy of teaching to the student rather than teaching to a curriculum. As a parent, I am completely satisfied with the quality of education, the teachers and the atmosphere of the school. My child has made great strides in all areas of her academic pursuits. She has made great friends and her teachers are superb! They are responsive and communicative. Most importantly, my child is HAPPY to be there. All the things that a parent could ever hope for. What I really don't understand with the former review is that if you have a problem with the school, why would you not address it with the faculty and staff? It does not benefit your child, does not solve the probem, and does not reflect well on your own problem-solvng skills. To have to resort to a forum to vent is counter-productive especially if the child still goes to the school. It seems to me then that somoene is simply, crying wolf. I whole-heartedly recommend this school to those looking for a great education, understanding and knowledgeable teachers, a family-like atmosphere where parent involvement is always welcome!
This school is great. The class sizes are small and the teachers are phenomenal. I have a child in the 1st /2nd grade class and is excelling at math, science, reading, and critical thinking. Some may see this as a flaw, but looking at the results and speaking to the other parents, it's an effective teaching method, for all involved. The earlier comment about the text books makes no sense to me, as there are so many other teaching materials that are implemented daily at every school, I prefer seeing my child in 1st grade being told to research using multiple sources! The public school teachers in my neighborhood, who interact with my child are envious as they see what they could do to if they were allowed to spend the time with each of their students. Monmouth Academy is a great alternative to the unfortunate situation of overcrowded, under funded public schools in this area!

From experience I can say this: Don't even THINK of subjecting your child to this third rate, slipshod, hand to mouth, excuse for a school. Text books are out of date: Geography still has South Viet Nam and Ceylon listed as a countries. Many text books are from school districts which have taken them out of service for being too worn and damaged- but hey, the school got them for free! School buses are safety a nightmare, and some of the drivers are simply dangerous. There is no security at all. Anyone can just walk right in. A couple of the teachers are actually excellent. Some have other serious issues and teach here because they would never get a job anywhere else. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR CHILD'S EDUCATION TIME ATTENDING THIS "SCHOOL".

Our son has attended LP/MA for 9 years. We are pleased not only with the top notch education he receives but also the nurturing environment that he thrives in. He is looking at applying to all top colleges and is doing so with such enthusiasm and desire to learn and live as he has had the good fortune of doing these past 9 years. If your child is fortunate enough to attend this fine, unassuming "prep" school, it is an investment you will not regret. Next year, some of the middle and upper school teachers will be part time and each core subject, including languages (which students get from K on up) will have one full time and one part time teacher. The school knows which teachers are coming back. Gladly wolde he lerne and gladly teche is 100% @ Monmouth Academy. Come see anytime for yourself.

Unfortunately, Monmouth Academy is not the school that it used to be anymore. The students have faced a lot of disruption in our education. Fighting between our teachers and administration and the board of directors is on a daily basis. The board of directors have fired our director and that makes us unhappy. All the reviews you will read about our teachers are true, but our teachers are now part time and that will hurt our education. Who is going to help us when we need it if our teachers are only part time. We don't even know which teachers are coming back and who is not. Without our teachers you need to FIND ANOTHER SCHOOL

I have so many good things to say about MA but most really what is so special are the teachers. This school teaches to the child and this is something you just don't find in public schools today. I feel very fortunate to have my daughter attend this school.

This is my son's first year at Monmouth Academy (MA). Before MA, he attended another private school that we were thrilled with and we could not imagine him anywhere else. Sadly, in 2009, the school closed their doors. I, along with many other parents, frantically searched for alternative private schools. Our children were getting a top notch education at a reasonable tuition, so we were spoiled and therefore extremely selective. A parent mentioned MA and reluctantly I and a few other parents went to an open house. It's not polished with a massive, rolling green campus, but what it lacked in curb appeal it far surpassed in teacher excellence and child focus. The school is truly child driven - the teachers and staff sincerely care. They teach character and a love for learning - a gift that will last my child a lifetime. This school is a gem.

I attended Lakewood Prep from Kindergarten through 12th grade. The best thing about LP is that it was a second family. Having the ability to go to the same school your whole life definitely has its advantages. You get to know the teachers and you learn that they really do want the best for you. I completely agree with the former student who wrote that LP gives a good foundation in organization and study habits. I found that when I began college most of my friends were unable to find a balance between studies and social life because they had never had to do this in high school. Its true that they dont offer as much extracurricular activities as public high schools do. However, since it is such a small school you have the opportunty to be a part of everything from sports to theater productions.

I think monmouth acadamy is a good school, but could be better. I attended this school for 5 years. I do agree the discipline could be better (from experiance). The teachers are really nice and focoused on the students and they really care about there grades. I would reccomend this school if you dont mind the classes being so small. I learned a lot from this school and not just academicly, socially too.
