This is great school, both of my kids attend there, the teachers are the best!
Wonderful school, my kids love it, awesome teachers & principal, great after school program Casper.
i love this school im in it and they have won alot of contests they very safe for your children they even have safety patrols they also have the student council they also dont allow any junk food only healthy snacks so your child will be iin good shape this school goes up to grade 5
Both my children attend this school & I have to say it is one of the best in JC. They offer a lot of special programs such as HOPE.
As a parent that has lives across from the school for the past decade I have never witnessed any fighting. The only problem that concerns me is the 'pestilence problem' my older daughter has witness large water bugs in the cafeteria and mice. As far as the nutrition for the state of NJ has passed a law prohibitting soft drinks and 'junk food'. If the school is caught selling or purchasing 'junk food' within the premises it could be fined. You should worrry about your child's education and safety. Not about soft drinks and chips.
I graduated from this school 2 years ago. Personlly I loved the school the teacher's taught well. The field trips were awesome. For example we went to Liberty Science Center a couple of times, Ellis Island, and Hershey Park for graduation. I enjoyed my years in this school.
This school has a great music group and my daughters miss this when we moved to the surburbs.
This is a wonderful school. My children are happy and secure. The teachers are great and the principal is wonderful.
I think that my son, Richard McAdams, who graduated from number 25 in 2004, had the best time he has ever had. He would come home every night with a story to tell about Mr. Franks, Mrs. Gurczeski and Mrs. Koukounaras. I thank all the people who helped my son learn all he did and helped ensure his future. Especial thanks to Mr. Franks. Richard McAdams
This year has been a horrible year for alot of the graduating class. They're always being threaten if they come in late they are told your not going to graduate on stage if they are laughing or talking or just any thing wrong. The children are scared because, alot of the children are not graduating on stage. They think its going to happen. There's always fights in the school and outside of the school and I've been there and seen the teachers just walk away or say take it across the street. The principal doesn't listen to reason she has to be right all the time. I'm not writing this because my daughter is a problem child my daughter is an honor student. I'm just speaking for the children who don't and can't speak out because they just won't be heard not with that staff. The board of education needs to step in and fast.
This school is poorly administered. The security is inadequate (in especially during the student arrival times and departure times). School policies and dress codes are not consistently enforced. Facilities and equipment are antiquated. There is a need for this school and Jersey City Board of Education to 'keep with the times' by providing services which meet the needs of the community which they serve. The administration of this school needs to become pro-active with developing programs and anticipating challenges and, less defensive when constructive criticism (or comment) is offered by those parent which want to be involved.
I must say that this school is great, I highly recommend it. The teachers really care about there students and my son's had one on one tutoring when he was behind in math. Now he is doing great and ready for the hot summer to come.
I disagree with other parents. My child is currently in eight grade and the teachers are extremely protective. I also believe that not having soda during lunch is a healthy way to eat. This school is also known to have the highest science GEPA scores in Jersey City. In three years running they had the best science GEPA scores and were number one in those years. And for that I'm proud of the school she's in.
I am extremely dissappointed with the fact that the students are not allowed to bring cans of soda to school or bags of chips. I do not understand how this is the school's choice, if a parent chooses to allow their child to drink soda, the school has no right what so ever to prohibit it. The school's responsibility is to teach the students and keep them safe, not enforce rules that parent's themselves must enforce.
I have received little to no support for a student with ADHD from the 'Child Study Team' despite repeated requests from myself and each of his teachers throughout the last five years. Since he was 'getting by'(meaning not failing) and wasn't a significant behavioral problem, they didn't consider his needs important or 'needy enough' to warrant any assistance. I am going above and beyond them to a private psychologist and am going to force them to create an IEP (Individual Education Plan) for my son. If your son or daughter has any issues, do not accept what the administrators tell you. Look beyond and find the help your child needs. You truly are the only one who will.
