The teachers and staff, they always have time for the parents but especially the students.
Nixon has a new principal who's made some excellent changes at the school but Nixon remains the weakest elementary school in the Roxbury school district. Some of the problems lie with its location (Landing) as it has to deal with higher numbers of english-as-a-2nd-language students but its bar is definitely lower than the other schools in the district. Nixon students are challenged when they move to Lincoln/Rooselvelt and beyond.
Our son did well at Nixon, the teachers are really dedicated, and principal Cavo is very involved and responds well to parent input.
I have felt that my son has always had the help he has needed at Nixon School. The overall attitude of the teachers is great and allows for great success.
