My child just entered Kindergarten & we absolutely love everything about the school. It was a really hard decision between going to private school vs sending him to public school as we have a great public school district with top ratings. We decided to try private as the public school only had a half day K thinking we would only send him for the first year. But after several months at the school, we have decided for us that the money was well worth it & we are keeping him there. A couple of things that might help you with deciding. We looked a lot of private schools & I thought PJS would not be as challenging to him, thinking it was more focused on arts and developing the child. Thats good and all but Im worried if I make the switch to public school he can keep up. I couldn't have been more wrong. Within the first 2 weeks he learned how to graph, tally, start reading and writing, different countries and where food came from. Its October and they already had 2 field trips. Core academics is a big focus & they get homework even in K. For a crazy tiger mom this is a dream come true & for him he is having fun. The teachers are very dedicated. I couldn't recommend this school enough.

Princeton Junior School is a caring, warm environment that prides itself in providing incredible student attention while delivering top academic achievements. visiting the school, one sees happy, laughing children and the parents naturally feel drawn into the warm environment. The teachers are available, interested and genuinely care. I have been delighted with my child attending since Pre-K and it's nice to be in a school where I have to drag my kid out of every afternoon because he doesn't want to leave.

We have been a part of the Princeton Junior School family for four years. I have two children that attend and I have nothing but wonderful experiences to share. The teachers are very nurturing at all levels and truly connect with both the students and with the parents. It is so crucial for children to build a strong academic foundation during their primary years of education. It is equally important that they cultivate a love of learning. Princeton Junior School provides both of these essential elements and in turn produces confident and prepared students who excel in all areas. The Princeton Junior School is excellent and I feel very fortunate to have found this second family for my children.

I highly recommend beginning your child's education at a school that concentrates on the younger years, and PJS does a great job in that area. Our son attended PJS from age 3 through 2nd grade, and the self-confidence and strong academic foundation he built there has helped him to stand out in his current school. I highly recommend PJS.

PJS is simply the best decision as parents we have ever made. The education is without question the best in the Princeton area. Your child will not only learn at the highest levels but more importantly they will live and breathe this knowledge through many experiences. They will live the American Revolution, Birds of Prey, The Living Cell Project, The Metropolitan Musuem of Art.... All parents always wonder where my child will go after graduation.... take a look at their website and you will see a list of the finest schools in the country where past PJS students attend. Also, as a parent of recently graduates,Ii have looked on with interest to see how their past schoolmates have done at their next school. The vast majority of these students are on the honor roll or high honors. Security, childhood, education, high values = PJS.

Princeton Junior School is a wonderful school to begin your child's education. The class sizes are very small (prek - 6/1, Kindergarden - 8/1 and 1st - 5th = 14/1). The arts are incorporated into all learning and children are encouraged to be very creative. Spanish classes begin in the pre-kindergarden 4 year old class and continues through the 5th grade. The teachers are very nurturing and all always available to discuss any concerns you may have. They provide an afterschool program for children who need to stay past the normal school day. Parent involvement is very high at this school, there are a number of PTA sponsered functions throughout the year and class parents are also requested. The only negative with the school is that they do not have a cafeteria and do not provide lunch. You will have to pack your child's lunch everyday.

Profile Completeness

Want to improve this school's profile?

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
