Bayshore Middle School has a rigorous curriculum, but too bad the harassment has to ruin it. Some of the tactics in this school are just preposterous. SOME of the teachers are qualified and can handle bullying but not all of them! That is the problem among this school and if it doesn't fix it, something detrimental is going to happen to the school. As seen in many of the comments, Bayshore is a horrific school. There are instances you see of LGBT harassment and sometimes even racism. One year a kid spontaneously tackles another in the cafeteria. Bayshore does nothing to fix it. It's a misfortune, the school has a beautiful layout, but sadly, it must be destroyed by the incompetent and heartless.

I have had the pleasure of having my son in Bayshore Middle school for 3 years. It has been a very positive experience. Most of the teachers and staff are caring and guide young teens with the nessesary amount of supervision and freedom they need. Involved parents can really get a feel for how wonderful the school is by getting to know the students and teaching/admin staff and support staff that are available in person or by email every school day. My son was allowed to grow socially and emotionally in a natural school setting without too much conflict. There were bully's but my sons friends each took the time to stick up for each other or brought it to the attention of professional staff at this school. All issues were resolved within days of any issue. I would recommend this school to any parent, but would definatly encourage participation in activities for students as well as parents. This school helps your young teen in preparing for High school where challenges and negativity can be handled by them because they have had help in most issues already. GREAT teacher/Staff support! Parents get involved in a positive way...it only helps build a better school/community.

This school is a disgrace! My son just finished 8th grade this week, and THANK GOD we no longer have to deal with it. Bullying is the rule there, and when brought to the principle or vice principals attention, nothing is done. Meetings with teachers etc, are done ONLY during school hours which means parents must take time off from work. Try to FIND a teacher or anyone else at the school after 3 pm? impossible. I have 2 older children and delt with two other school districts, so I know how things are run elsewhere. I am so happy to be done with this excuse of a school,

I have had two children attend this school .There is rampant bullying, apathetic teachers tenured teachers and a principal that is completely ineffective and long overdue for replacement. There is no indication that any of these issues are being addressed so if avoidable do not enroll your child in this Middle School. Btw the gym activity consists of students playing Wii Dance for the entire gym period while the teachers stand in a conversational cluster with their backs to the students. It's beyond incompetence.

My son has attended bayshore now for 2 years and he has been plagued with teachers who do not care, but on the other hand he has had some wonderful teachers. The school has many issues with drugs and bullies. I am not impressed with it at all. Most teachers will not make an effort to contact you if something is going wrong with your child. The general theme seems to be they are old enough to be responsible for themselves. Well sorry I feel my 11,12,13 year old needs more guidance than that. If you make yourself known in the building you have a better shot of your child not getting lost in all the trouble, but they don't actually advertise what you can do to be there. All in all I really don't care for the school.

The school has very very good teachers and they really go the extra mile when it comes to your child. The school is plagued with bullies and academic issues. The Principal states that now is the time to be involved with your child but is unreceptive to parents and would rather not bother with your concerns. The teachers make the school great!

The principal does not tolerate bullies. I have a honor roll level student who was being bullied, and the teachers/principal handled the issue immediately. My student needed extra help with math, and the math teachers offered before school help before I could ask.

for all you who think that bayshore may not be the best school. its turning around. a new campaign has gone out explaining...yes we can. All this is in motivation for the new jersey ask. i know that we may of had a bad repulation but that is certain kids in the school. not the school as a whole. I hope you can be able to send your child to bayshore and experience it. As a student of this school i know that this school is great. Children who get in trouble are punished. And for curricular activities there are more than enough. And the activities there are, are great. I just hope that the people blogging are just peopel who don't know about bayshore. as a student i know first hand about it. the teachers and staff are great. i could never thinkof ever going anywhere else.

I cant agree more! to many discipline problems. Bullies rule the school if your child bahaves they are greatly ignored by teachers. Teachers are for the most part well educated themselves but not always willing to go the extra mile to help. Guidance might as well not even get paid they basically do nothing. I have sent three children here and WILL NOT send my fourth!
