This school is welcoming to all and has a very diverse body of students. Most of the teachers are helpful and provide a challenging class. As a student, I have also noticed that our school has much less 'bullying' going on than what I've heard from other schools. It provides an effective environment to learn in. As a student, I am satisfied with the school.
It has taught my child so much more than any other school could
Leonia is diverse and has a real sense of community. The teachers here are considerate, and very motivating. We have very good clubs and activities that are always extremely pleasing to join. It's a great school to be in. I've never felt more excited to step into school everyday and anticipate learning new things and seeing my friends
Leonia High School is deserving of the title America's Favorite School primarily because of its staff. The teachers in this small town high school are what produce successful students year after year. For example, Dr. Pinker is a teacher for the AP English course. There are are so many ways and processes that are available to him in order to teach the students yet he manages to choose the simplest, easiest, and most effective way. We're tested on our ability to 'read' text, retain knowledge, and to speak about our ideas. That and there's a small amount of time at the end of the class allotted to a particular theme (such as Making the Ordinary Extraordinary) which is then reinforced by a small passage from a book that supports the motif. In any other school this may seem tedious and boring to an aspiring student. In Leonia High School, this is one of the prime spots of the day that I thoroughly enjoy. Dr. Pinker is one of the many examples of teaching that our school possesses. The fact that there's more than one 'extraordinary' teacher is what makes Leonia High School qualify for the title America's Favorite School.
It is a wonderfully integrated school. Children from all over the world attend LHS. They all feel welcomed. There are many fabulous clubs and activities for after school.
The teachers are nice and very motivational and all care about the students.
Honors and Advanced Placement classes are demanding and are a lot of work. The teachers challenge students a lot to get the best out of us. The Leonia Academy for Science is a great program involving more science and math than any other area. It enforces the study of the medical area. However, the school day (10 periods) can be long and a study hall period may be better for academy students because of the amount of work dealt, homework, studying for tests, etc... Clubs, activities are great too. Sports teams are competitive and exciting. Overall, the school is great and we encourage you to come to Leonia High School.
Terrific curriculum and demanding honors program. Solid athletic programs, basketball team is always competetive...
Administration fails to provide accurate information regarding student eligibility. Unsupportive.
