Both of my children graduated from Mainland ( 2005 and 2008 ) and had an excellent experience. Mainland allows you to challenge yourself by offering a wide array of AP classes that are taught by qualified teachers. As noted in a previous post there are many extracurricular activities in which you may participate including the highly rated Academic and Mock Trial teams as well as sports. With the new schedule in place Mainland seems like a small college campus rather than a regimented high school. Finally, Mainland is in the final stages of a 35 million dollar renovation which has dramatically improved and enhanced the physical plant.

I truly enjoyed my time at mainland and know I am well prepared for college. I was able to take 11 ap classes throughout the years and passed 10 out of the 11 exams. The extracurricular programs are excellent, many teams or clubs end up competing at the national level. I know that in the recent years our completive speech team, academic team, mock trial, as well as others (such as the marching band) placed in the top three at National tournaments. Yes sometimes there is a chance that you may get a bad teacher, but isn't that the same everywhere. Overall the good outweigh the bad in this school.

Great school, plenty of activities and top notch academics for students to take advantage of. Students will get out as much as they put into their high school experience at Mainland. New schedule this year has helped reduce student stress while maintaining strong core academics. I moved into the district so my kids could attend this school. I don't regret that decision at all.

All I know is I passed 7 out of the 8 AP tests I took here (5 of them at the top score). The arts program was fantastic as well as the sports. Neither is favored over the other and most of the teachers are passionate about both their subject and their students.

Mainland still boasts being a Blue Ribbon School while that is no longer true, they did receive Blue Ribbon status once but have not stayed current. Many language programs were cut and there are more cuts pending across all programs. It is doubtful that they could acheive Blue Ribbon status at this time.

As a parent who has one student who has graduated and one in school I have been very happy with the education and Mainland in general.

As a teacher in a neighboring school district, I see the clear differences between Mainland and other schools. The parents and students are much more involved at Mainland. Teachers are very willing to help students and many make themselves available before or after school hours. Communication between the school and parents has improved over the last several years as well. It is not a perfect school, but there is no such place. As always, it is what you make of the opportunities presented. I truly think that Mainland offers more than most.

It is a really lousy school. There is no follow-up and if you email and call teachers about your child failing most of them do not get back to you. The child study team is a joke. All they do is collect a paycheck.

Mainland is far and away the best school in the county, a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon school. Mainland has many AP classes to offer its advanced students, as well as a plethora of electoral classes unique to the curriculum, including air brush and dance. The athletics department is top-notch, and there are many clubs to choose from, ranging from physics to fencing. The teachers convey their subjects much better than some of the college professors I had in the past. Your child will succeed there.
