This is is terrible! They get in trouble all the time for restraints. They are constantly in need of extra teachers! They do not have enough special ed trained professionals and overwork their teachers. They dont even know how to run IEP meetings and say no to everything!
Atlantis School is Excellent! My daughter attended first and second grade here and she absolutely loved it! I am thrilled with the education that she received there. It was challenging and constantly kept my daughter motivated. I felt the staff and teachers were great. I always felt welcome at the school. Miss Fluet is a wonderful Principal. She knew my daughter by name and was always friendly and greeted me when I came to the school. I could not have asked for a better school!
I am not sure what school these previous people are reviewing but Atlantis School is great. They do so many great things. The new principal, Miss Fluet, is wonderful. Parents are always welcome to help in the class or even eat lunch there. I had no problems with the staff, they were very helpful and familiar with the military way of life. Better than any surrounding school district.
You would be blessed to have Mrs. Garenia as your 1st graders teacher. She is everything a parent could ask for! As for the administration, it needs a bit of work.
I am a parent of a student who attended Atlantis. It was a great transition especially when moving from an overseas environment where everyone is family. My daughter did really well and as a parent i felt welcomed to come in and visit the class at any time. I found the rest of the staff from the Pricipal, Secretaries, Teachers, and even the maintenace staff to be outstanding. Never did I have a question go unanswered or a concern brushed aside. This school and its staff are outstanding. Please take the time to get to know them i think you will love them all.
I am a teacher at Atlantis School and I was shocked when I read the review by a parent from 9/11 of 2008. Everyone that I know who works at our school, is a true professional and will do whatever it takes to help students to succeed. We have high standards and expect a lot from our students and so we give a lot in return. When we are not teaching the children we are planning lessons and activities. The teaching profession has changed a great deal since I first began this career. I don't think people realize how challenging it has become and instead of criticizing the job that teachers do, they should appreciate it.
This past year's experience with Atlantis has been very disappointing. Although 'hyped' up by some parents (and past reviews on this website), I find the school not focused on providing a learning environment for the students. Most teachers and staff do the minimum; appears to be 'just a job' to most of them. Although academically ok , the environment is 'luke warm' at best. After the good I've heard about this school, I'm personally very disappointed. If possible, be sure to review all your options before settling on this school for your children.
We just moved to McGuire in Oct. and my daughter has had a seamless transition. The class size is amazing and I have found that the academics are fairly challenging.
I loved my sons first grade teacher. The academics were great. But I didn't feel very welcomed to come help out. They keep parents way out of the loop.
Very good academically, although a bit test-driven. Parent participation is not necessarily welcomed, and the lack of physical activity/recess is alarming to me. The staff all know my first grader by name and the fact that the school is only comprised of 1st and 2nd graders is nice. Overall- good experience.
