I am proud parent of Monroe High school. My son got full ride to great college.
We moved from NY 2 years ago and were so happy to find a good high school for our son in Monroe area, despite of huge school taxes here. Big, new school with a lot of outdoor activities. Before he went to a private school, with tough discipline and everyday tests-quizzes. He always was a good student. But now we are not so happy, as before. His rate dramatically go down, some subjects he started to hate. We spend a lot of our time trying help him, got a tutor, extra classes, but it doesn't work. We are disappointed.
I've been helping my son to locate a new home, and in exploring your website was amazed to find that Monroe Twp. High School was rated so poorly! Although 70% of the students are reported as white in your demographics, the school is listed as mostly hispanic in the description! This alone leaves me to question the validity of your ratings. I have taught in the district for over 20 years, and my children went through the Monroe school system. In addition, my sons both married women who went to the high school. Both of my children were accepted to Ivy League schools, and their wives graduated from Drexel and Virginia Tech. I can't imagine what you base your ratings on! As my son is currently using your site to assist with his decision in buying a new home in Virginia, I warned him not to place too much stock in your website based on your assessment of our school! I hope your other school ratings are more accurate than this.
It's a great school. It sounds really funny when people who doesn't know anything about the school says that the schools aren't that good in Monroe. If you have kids going to this school then you will know how good the school and the teachers are. They are tying their best in helping the kids with studies.
This is truly a fantastic school and does not get enough credit. The new high school gives the students a chance to take part in high quality class rooms. Most of the teachers really do love teaching and it is evident through the rigorous courses at this school. This school really prepares students for the real world. Athletic fields are top notch and teams are continuously improving.
Very happy with the studies , one of the best school in middlessesx . New high school is very competitive in studies.
The Monroe High is improving with new demographics. The bldg. is brand new and located in beautiful park. The study is becoming more competitive.
Great school for education and extra curr. activities. Teacher and services are really the best.
Prior to coming to this school I was in private school and we had a heavy course load. When I got to this school I didn't have to lift a finger to get good grades. Now I am paying for all of that as I am attending Rutgers and the course load is heavy and classes are not easy. I feel that Monroe did not prepare me for college. HELP!
I was at student at MTHS from 2002 to 2006. As the years went by, I felt as if the organization of the school decreased. The school also became more interested in disciplining certain students, rather than educating everyone. Isn't that why we come to school? Also, my guidance counselor was very unimformative and I never knew about the NJ Stars program, which I would have been eligible for. The school does have tracking for different levels of students, but they do no do too much for the students who need extra help except send them to alternate school (which is a total waste of time). Overall, the school was okay, and I feel that it needs much improvement from when I was there.
Overall good school experience. A few hiccups on the way, but that would be expected in any other high school.
Excellent School my kids ever been to. I searched school system very thoroughly before moving to Monroe Twp. as my 2 kids are in High school. excellent care and staff.
As a parent, I am truly disappointed. We pay heavy taxes in this district, and the level of education is poor. We had a particular problem with a language arts teacher-a woman who has been there forever, and she refused to take our calls or emails. that is so unprfessional F!
Monroe Township High School has available to its' students a variety of classes ranging from remedial to Advanced Placement, but I don't think the teachers take responsibility for the success of their students. I would like to see the percent of students taking and finding success increase. Of all the schools in the district, the high school curriculum needs to be re-evaluated to better prepare students for their future educational endeavors. The administrative design for the district would benefit if a subject area supervisor was assigned for grades 7-12. As of now they cover all grades and I don't see much availability to oversee what is being taught at the high school. If a parent has a concern about curriculum or classroom management there is really no one to ask. I wonder why so many assistant principals are needed throughout the district? Time for a change?
Sad to say, Monroe HS is not one of the strongest schools in Middlesex County. Kids are always getting into trouble, parents don't take responsibility for their child's actions and the majority of the administration is inept in correcting the problems of the students, instead just letting the faculty take the fall and not backing them up. The school and district are definitely in need of some new leadership. Some strong ideas that may help are a character education initiative and a rewrite of the curriculum. Hopefully the leadership changes, as well as the district changes and new crop of students will allow MTHS to succeed.
Monroe Township High School is one of the better schools in Middlesex County. Despite the overcrowding, the building itself is fairly modern, the teachers utilize technology in the classroom, extra-curriculars are strong and the administration is very hands on, as well as very supportive. Monroe made a great decision with the hiring of Dr. Kasyan. He will do great things for the school. The teachers in the school are also very good and knowledgeable about their content area. In addition to being very intelligent, one Social Studies teacher in the school who recently started has some of the best discipline I have ever seen. All teachers should follow his lead. MTHS has the potential to be the best high school in Middlesex County and once the new building opens, it will be even better.
I am a current student at MTHS. The quality of education at MTHS is quite average compared with other schools. The adminstration has been encountering several resignations from many fine teachers, which makes some worry about the future integrity of MTHS. In addition, things are disorganized and several processes within the school tend to not run smoothly.
