My wife and I chose Red Oaks based on its accreditation with AMS, combined with the stellar reputation of the head of the school. This school is truly a special institution of learning, and offers children every possible advantage. I recently attended my first parent/teacher conference, and was blown away at the detail and depth that the teachers covered. Most importantly, they covered the high points, as well as areas of opportunity (some schools in this echelon can put the "everything's GREAT" spin on to placate the hoity-toity clientele). Social functions are executed thoughtfully to blend fun with education, and encourage parent involvement. The layout and design of the school campus is very charming, and creates an environment where even very young children will run out of bed in the morning to go to class. Three cheers to Red Oaks for offering a unique educational oasis to parents who want the very best for their children.
ROS is truly a unique and exceptional school. The teachers are excellent, the principal is a strong and engaging person that creates a desire to want to not only be your best but to also do your best whether you're a parent, student or faculty member. Their programs for the students are challenging and progressive.
I have two children in the Red Oaks School and I am very happy with their development and current performance. The teachers are excellent and the director always has her eyes on the latest and greatest in education research. If you are looking for a 21st century education for your child, a place where learning the basics is just as important as learning critical thinking skills and creativity, then visit Red Oaks. There is a strong, diverse community comprised of families who really care about their child's' education and overall development.
Parents: My two grandsons attend Red Oaks. This school is far from a joke. The earlier grades are emphatically based upon Montessori principles, which lay a time-tested superior foundation in reading, math, science, history, languages and writing in elementary grades. A 1965 charter parent of this school, attended by both my children who entered pubic second grade after three years at this school, I stress that children who do that must make a transition from the individualized Montessori approach to the lock-step, desks-in-a-row approach of public schools. As a teacher/department chair retired after 36 years of teaching public secondary school English in Ohio, Indiana and New Jersey, I urge parents at Red Oaks to have initial/follow-up conferences with the public school teacher concerning the adjustments your child will make. MANY public elementary teachers still have the totally erroneous view of the Montessori approach and misinterpret the self-starting behaviors of transfer students.
ROS is a wonderful, nurturing, progressive environment - everything a parent could want. My son, now in 2nd grade, started in Kindergarten and I have a daughter in their primary program. All the teachers have been warm, but not afraid to challenge my kids. It is a fantastic community for the parents as well. We love it!
This place is a joke. My daughter transferred to public school (after doing really well at Red Oaks) and now she cannot keep up. The education is inferior to local public schools.
Excellent school. The teachers are very good and use the best teaching strategies. The prinicpal is visionary and is always on top of new developments in the field of education. I have two kids that go to this school. They have learned to become independent learners and respect people around them.
This is a fantastic progressive school that is not founded on some montessori principles but ensures that the most current and appropriate methods of teaching are being utilized. The teachers are unbelievably talented and committed to the school and the children.
This is a great school. My daughter is now in 1st grade and it just keeps getting better and better. She loves going to school. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly, very loving. The academic level is very high, and the children have personalized study plans. They really do soar!
