I just graduated from PVS and am now moving on to clearview. PVS is an amazing school the teachers are excellent and relly care for their students and offer help during recess which helped me so much. While I was going to PVS we had three different principals who were each strong in certain ways. Each year I was placed in the right classes for they challenging but not too hard or easy. I had a great 3 years at PVS and I hope clearview is as great as PVS was
My girls have been in PVS and HTS since Kindergarten. This school only seems to care about making money off of our children. our children are free advertisers for their numerous fundraisers. I am sick of it. Plus Math is taught horribly at this school. The teachers jump from one thing to the other too quickly when it comes to math. The children have a hard time securing math facts because of this. I know this because I use to be a class sub there. The curriculum for math is terrible. No matter what I do to help my girls, that math curriculum always dumbs them down. The spelling curriculum is so confusing sometimes. Bathrooms are filthy & the lunches are nasty. Most of the children that go here pack a lunch because the food is so nasty. Good luck if your child goes here. These schools are rated high because they make a lot of money off the children. It's all about what school can make the most money off the kids. Its not the testing.... Look into it!!!
I am a student in Mrs. Love/Campbell's homeroom and I love her and this school. I think all of the teachers in this school are really nice and all the extras (PE, Music ext.) are really cool! You can learn really neat things in this school. This is my opinion, I give this school five stars!
I have lived here for 3 years. My son is in 6th grade and my daughter is in Harrison Township. Compared to where we were before the classroom size is small to give children the attention they need. The teachers are responsive and caring when there is a concern about acedemic performance. They will also challenge the student to work to their capabilities. The math program is solid, my son actually tested at the top of 7th grade math which I attribute to the math program setting high standards. My daughter was reading in Kindergarten whereas at another schoold district my son did not start reading until 1st grade. In my opionion, my taxes, while high, are paying for the private school education. Yes there is no extra school activity , however, there are plenty of sports programs to get your child involved in here in this town.
I moved to Nj from NY where the school the public school system is awful. My son just started at Pleassant valley in 5th grade, he loves it. So far i have no complaints. The township has pleanty of activities, and there is an after school program given by and outside company which is great. Its not free, but you get what you payfor sometimes!
The school seems to be doing a great job. I agree about the principle though. He does and will not take suggestions of any kind. But the teachers seem to really care about the students.
I am a grandparent and so far, I have heard great things about my granddaughter's school experience.
No extra curriculum activities at all!!! Don't try to get after school help for your child, it will cost you $35.00 per hour ( districts going rate). Extremely small 'play ground' area and fields which have poor drainage and are always wet. Teaching staff seems to care about their students however the principals ego gets in the way of helping students who really could benefit from additional assistance. If you are not an 'average' student you will NOT benefit in attending this school. The school district has little concern for students who are not in the norm.
I don't feel this school does enough to keep kids safe.
I am a former student of Pleasant Valley School. I can tell that, while I greatly enjoyed my teachers. There were no extracurricular activities, which is a real shame, as a lot of students liked it when they did. The parents there are great! We went on cool field trips. but me being who I am, I felt that the school gave students 0 freedom, and treated us as 1st graders.
