Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

My daughter is entering 8th grade Sept. 2011. She is in the Fine Arts Class and this year will also be in Concert Choir. She loves to sing. Mr. Cundari is a Wonderful Music Teacher along with Ms. Monte also! All her classes give her a challenge which is great! She is always on honor roll with A and B's. I believe the teachers in Nutley take their job serious. The town really cares about the kids and the vice principal, Mr. Callichio and his staff are very helpful and concerned for the students.

My daughter is a 7th grader and she likes this school. She has made a decent amount of new friends. Of course you will stumble upon those people who are not the kindest of all people but you will have to deal with it through your whole life...Also changing in the locker rooms can make a boy/girl insecure or awkward but after a few days everyone is comfortable. The classes have a good amount of challenges. My daughter is in all vector and she is challenged a decent amount. She received honors this marking period, so so far she is doing great. The school also has a big gym a nice library and it is pretty sanitary. The only thing is that the lockers are very small and there is only one top shelf and the bottom of the locker...i think there should be a more spacious middle shelf so the children are not always kneeling on the floor to pick their books and essentials...the principal is an okay man and the vice principal is on the edge with me...the kids seem to be disciplined with every little thing they do.... overall this school is a great school for education.

This school prepares very well for even the most challenging high school programs. Teachers (especially math) and guidance counselors are wonderful.

My children attended this school and recieved a great education preparing them well for high school and beyond. The school has been newly renovated with science labs, a beautiful library, cafeteria, music wing for its award-winning music programs, and outstanding gymnasium.

I have a daughter attending this school and I am completely satisfied with not only the quality of teachers, but the curriculum and, not to mention, the principal is outstanding. The school now has been renovated and looks fabulous.

I'm currently an 8th grade student at Franklin Middle School. This year I'm taking all vector classes, excluding math. Instead of math, I'm taking algebra, the next step up from vector. Franklin School also offers a geometry class for eighth graders which is held in the local high school across the street. I'm very satisfied with most of my classes, and find that they're challenging enough for my skill level. There's also a wide range of electives including musical, instrumental, language, and art programs. There are also computer skills classes which can be taken half of the year. Up to two full-year electives can be chosen. Besides these there are also many after-school clubs which can be joined, ranging from 4-H to pet care. Overall I'm pretty satisfied with Franklin School.

I am an 8th grade student in FMS and I think this school needs work. There is very little space. Teachers teach in the Auditorium, cafeteria, library, and many other places. There may be some bad things about this school, but the Teachers are wonderful, especially Ms.DeBonis the 8th grade english teacher. She treats you like your an adult not a kindergardener. I love FMS and I love Nutley! Maybe its because Ive lived here all my life but if you are concidering to move Nutley has wonderful schools and exelent neighbors and classmates!

I'm a student at FMS.This school needs a lot of improvement. First of all, the science lab have no tools necessary for our experiments. We only have goggles and gloves. In addition, our lunch is only 20 minutes long! And the lines, they're unbelieveable. It takes the student 10 minutes in the line and the food is very expensive.A can of WARM Iced Tea is 1.25.That's not good.We need a lot of improvement.Other than that, some teachers are really good, especially Mr.Kocum, 7th grade English teacher. He's a fun teacher and gives the right discipline when needed.Overall, this school could be better.
