Graduated from Jefferson in 2002. Great School have no idea what this person in 2007 is talking about, focusing on sports more then academics.. Jefferson has always had great teachers and maintained decent athletic programs. You get what you put into it. Our graduates speak volumes..
There are so many choices for all students in JTHS! My daughter is thriving in this school. Middle school was horrible and the teachers there all had the same excuse...they were simply getting the kids ready for High School.....well, let me tell you.....High School is nothing like they said it would be. It is relaxed, focused and there for any kid that wants to move forward. Extra curricular activities and academics are top notch...scores on the state tests are wonderful and there are many choices for students no matter what their interests are. I am a satisfied parent...and proud! Thank you JTHS!!!!!
Recieving an education is partly the responsiblity of the student, especially by the time a student reaches High School. This school like many others is what you make of it. The school has many talented teachers, and many students that want to learn. The students that need extra help or have behavior problems exsist in all schools. Jefferson may have more behavior issues than other districts, this is partly a parent problem, not completely the schools fault. It is certainly not a bad school. Sports are very important in all grade levels in this town. Most parents are very supportive and form social groups of their own through sports from the time children first enter the recreation programs at very young ages.
True. They teach to tests. Sports is the priority here. Academics comes in second. Student government is lame and almost non-existant. Many good, experienced teachers have left for better teaching jobs. Too many violent 'special needs' kids are in the classrooms with the students that want to learn. Thus, many outbursts and disruptions in the classrooms. I'm not talking about 'Special Ed.' kids here. The Administration says that the State forbids them to expel the troublemakers. That's a lie. The District just doesn't want to spend the money to send the violent disruptive troublemakers to the State school in Andover where they belong!!
I've had two kids graduate K - 12. Both did very well, and were well prepared for college. You get out of it what you put into it...a good education is available in this district.
Jefferson High school is one of the worst districts in this state. They push the children through and teach to tests. It does not mean the kids are learning. They also focus alot on sports and not so much on other extra curricular activities.
Jefferson is an excellent school and has worked tremendously on improving safety and the learning experience throughout the entire school.
Staff is always willing to talk with my daughter and help her to deal with her homework, teachers, and classmates.
The school has become very strict, but the condidtions are not that great. The students should not have had to deal with all the construction, although it is to better the school. The staff is good, and the most friendly people you'll encounter are a lot of the extra help teachers. The regular teachers are very kind people who are always wiling to help out whenever possible, and as much as possible.
