my son was here for a short while and his teacher then was ms.Heather.she really took out her time in helping my child and i must say she was a very good teacher.Nice and welcoming environment,my son always loved to go to school...A school i would recommend to anyone who wants the best for the child!
The administrators and teachers expect these 9, 10 and 11 year olds to act like adults! There is no fun, ability to socialize or act like a child...not even at lunch. At lunch, they are forced to sit quietly and read, if stuck indoors! They are also yelled at constantly, even by some of the lunch aides. It is a stressful environment, to say the least.
Sayreville Upper Elementary is an outstanding learning environment. The School is just a few years old which provide students with really nice surroundings. The School has state of the art technology equipment & the Principal has an awesome sense of vision. The Assistant Principal is hands on and promotes an open door policy to families. There are a number of enrichment opportunities for the children. However, as a new parent to Sayreville, I found it difficult to learn all the school had to offer until my 4th grader began attending the school. I was just told repeated that UES was a great school...not enough for parents who need specifics. I would hope the school does more to work with families in this area. There are so many great aspects of this school! There are 3 after school programs on site. Each operates independent of each other. This is great, but confusing.
My son had trouble adjusting to the scheduled classes that start here in the fourth grade. They have to carry books and assignments from class to class but he did get the hang of it. The staff is very professional, the principal has a great personality, and there are some cool after school activities. They need a playground or some type of play field.
