I have been disappointed in PHS. My daughter has received no encouragement from her teachers and guidance counselors - in fact they seem to discourage her from improving every step of the way. Some teachers blatantly play favorites. Some of the teachers are great, but that seems to be the exception. My son is an honor student in 8th grade - I am seriously considering finding a private school for him, or moving to a town with a better high school.

PHS offers tremendous opportunity to those who are willing to work hard. PHS graduates attend Princeton, Columbia, Cornell and the like. Nothing is perfect but when a parent stays close to their child's elementary and middle school education in Parsippany and works with the faculty, great things happen. My children are doing well and I credit that to both the school system's foundation and opportunity, parental involvement and supervision, and student motivation. Truly, most success stories are rarely the result of one source, it takes a town to raise a child.

With six years of experience with the school I have one child graduated from this school and another beginning her third year. My children have received and continue to recieve an excellent education. Its the same story as it has always been. You will get out of the school what you put into it. There more excellent teachers than less talented ones. There is a tremendous amount of extracaricular activities available. I have never experienced a safety issue in 6 years. My graduate is in a top notch college for the arts and my younger one is headed for a top rated university. Parsippany High School has been a great experience for both of them.

Some of the teaching staff play favorites, but when confronted, will always have an excuse ready. The administration strongly believes in 'passing the buck' a problem occurs, and the guidance staff have little to know knoledge about the students or non-state colleges.

This is a normal H.S. with your typical tiny group of trouble makers. The teachers are great and the advanced courses are second to none.

I am truly disappointed in the lack of discipline in this school. For that reason, students fear retaliation if anything is reported. It is well known that if you talk, you will get it. The administration knows this and turns a blind eye. Teachers are forced to deal with the most disrespectful 'thugs' imaginable. ISS, In-School-Suspension is a joke. I am seriously trying to pull my child out of that school for those reasons. What the administration tells you is not the whole story. Don't be fooled that your children are safe. There are some good aspects to the school, teachers are great, good programs offered (although principal is scaling them down) but if you have a good student trying to get a good education and there are rude, disruptive kids in the classroom, forget it, the adminstration does nothing! Shame on them.
