No other catholic school is better than Holy Spirit School. The teachers are great. The Principal, Sr. Marie, is awesome! She really makes the school a great place to learn with an outstanding academic program that includes religion, arts, music, performing arts, gym, chess & many more. She is really the heart of the school! The teachers will make sure your child receive what your child needs. Depending on your child level, homework maybe more challenging. My daughter's teacher made sure she got more challenging work that can make her achieve her personal goals. I'm a very happy parent and she is a happy child too!

I couldn't have asked for a better school. The principle is very experienced and highly involved, the teachers are outstanding and even take the time to customize lesson plans for gifted children, the classes are divided up by skill level so kids can learn at their own pace, and the students that attend this school are very well mannered. One time I was dropping off the kids, a 3rd grader held the door for us and insisted we go first. I interviewed and visited many private and public schools and chose Holy Spirit because of their customization approach to teaching and how nicely they treat the kids, parents, and each other. I also visited IHM in Wayne but witnessed the principle screaming at the student and found the staff to be quite rude and snooty. The principle of IHM couldn't even spare 10 minutes to talk to me, no teacher was available for me to talk to and I was asked to speak with the secretary. Really?! Since adults in school serve as mentors and role models for our children, It was important to me to find teachers, staff, and principle who are not only great educators but also teach by example. I found all that at Holy Spirit. This is truly a gem of a school.

It is sad that parents have to justify sending their child to IHM by badmouthing other local Catholic schools. It shows the caliber of families that attend that school. We switched from IHM to Holy Spirit for many reasons. We are so glad we did! My son is graduating this year from Holy Spirit with honors. He received the Headmaster Scholarship at a local Catholic High School and has earned 99% percentile on the Terra Nova. Make an appointment with Sister Marie to see the school. You (and your children) will love it!

Good school if your child is kind of slow. It is the school where kids who can't make it at IHM go. Then again IHM is a Nationa Blue Ribbon School. In the Wayne area it is number two. Much Better than Mother Seton, which was formed by combining 2 failed schools.

Wonderful School in every sense of the word. Dedicated teachers and a wonderful hands on principal. Academically top notched, at least 1 grade ahead of public school. All day kindergarten program that is loving and nuturing. All students come out reading very very well. All the families and parents are hands on as well and you can feel the love and commitment of everyone as soon as you walk through the doors. I couldn't have made a better choice for my three children.

I have two children at Holy Spirit and you need look no further when trying to find the right school for your children! The school works towards making sure the child has every opportunity to grow academically, spiritually, and numerous afterschool activities! Both of my kids have received the John Hopkins level in testing. This school runs and works so smoothly with the guidness of our wonderful Principal. Holy Spirit will always be the right choice!

Excellent!!! This is the true meaning of Catholic Education.. My children are thrilled to be part of this loving and nurturing environment which are all attributed to our Principal and her staff. Completely impressed academically. Hands down the best choice we have ever made for our children!!

Decent school which could be a lot better if more dollars were actually applied to the students. Had 2 children go through school and graduate and one I removed at middle school level. Reseach all local private schools and do a comparison.

I think the Pre-K programs are the most comprehensive ones in the area and would mimic most kindergarten environments. Lots of learning and extras that make the experience A+. Staff and principal are friendly and always willing to accomodate. They encourage parental envolvement both in the classroom and school environments, and have great policies on saftey. An overall family environment. Kindergarten seems above-par in curricullum in contrast to public in the wayne area. This smaller environment seems to foster more personal attention and dedication to each student.

Community ratings and reviews do not represent the views of GreatSchools nor does GreatSchools check their accuracy or verify the reviewers' identities. Use your discretion when evaluating these reviews.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
