This is a safe school and a friendly environment for your child. Now that they have a new principal this school is safer, more fun, and has a lot of fun activities for your child!!! Shull school is #1!!!! Shull school has no fights, tremendous staff, marvelous students,a extravagant principal and vice principal, and for lunch has a healthy lunch. They have a salad bar and they have a vending machine for children to use in case they get hungry and their teachers let them eat food in class. I love everything about Shull school and I honestly don't think Shull school needs to improve that much the only thing that should improve at this school is the temperature of the classes so make sure to provide your child with a shall school sweater. Thank You that is all folks!!!!
I have a 7th grader in this school. He's in the schools GT program. Teacher involvement/level of care is good; for most part. More has to be done about funding and classroom space.
I'm the parent of a 5th grader at Shull School and I am quite disappointed. The Principal has many plans but no money or resources to implement them. The teachers, although qualified, are lacking in drive. The staff seems to possess a general 'it's not my job' mentality. There are plenty of after school and early morning programs but, the school is severely overcrowded. During each lunch period half of the students eat while half play and wait for the lunchroom/auditorium to clear so that they can eat. The school fence is in disrepair and the children hang out of it and jump through it.(It is 6 ft off the ground in some spots.) Parent involvement is minimal, the teachers do not attempt to communicate, and are surprised if you do. It's a shame that it's the only public school for our 5-6th.
My child has a great time at this school. He says he is being challenged. Last year, he was in a Catholic School and now that he is in a public school, he says he thinks its harder. Which I think is great!
I have one child in this school and seems ok with it. It's the only 5-6 grade in the city to go to. Principals are helpful, office adminstration is polite. The school has high standard education, but might not be the best for students level. Low state test scores to prove it. There are 28 students in my childs classroom. Teachers seems to need helper/assistants so that the students can achieve. More parent/teacher/adminstration involvement needed. The school needs more helpers in the morning and afterschool programs.
