Piscataway High School was fun. I am currently a Business MIS major at Rowan University. I lived in Piscataway all my life and spent all my four years of high school, at PHS. I enjoyed the teachers. Some were annoying and some didn't care to help, but the teacher I had were amazing. The diversity there is awesome, even though segregation is visible, it is not that bad. Everyone gets along with everyone. The security is getting tighter each moment which has its good and bad points. I liked PHS and it has prepared me for college.

tPHS keeps on giving in high school and after graduation. Different improvements, year to year for each young woman and man. Changes occur, due to the many great teachers who care beyond the courses, activities and currculum. The students learn for life in the subject. The teachers get to know their students and parents, guardians and friends. There are many life lessons at PHS, and my children experienced the most signifiant one: comfort and respect for people from all walks of life, and around the globe. They are well respected in college and I am learning how much they are respected after college too. A great life preparation for now and future.

I have had two children graduate from Piscataway High School. One went onto graduate with honors, from the Engineering program at RutgersU, then, onto an excellent job, the second, is attending RutgersU. PiscatawayHS provided an excellent academic education, and first rate extracurricular activities, particularly the music, band, and, sports programs. We are very involved parents, which is also key to any child succeeding in school. PHSprovides a diverse, dynamic, environment. The real world is diverse, and, a school like Piscataway HS prepares them to thrive and succeed in a real, diverse world and working environment, giving them a competitive edge. With few exceptions we found the teachers very good, well educated, and, progressive. School, like life, is also what you make it. Along with good guidance from parents, which is key, PHS provides excellent educational opportunities.

Despite being an honors student, I can't help but notice the short comings of our school. First, it's the school board. They're more concerned about redistricting students in the elementary/middle schools to get an equilibrium of ethnicity than in improving the quality of curriculum throughout all schools. Even more, they might as well hire some new teachers, responsible ones. Honestly, some of the teachers in our school are just jokes. I've been lucky to get rather challenging ones in my honors courses, which I enjoy, but I can't help but notice how unfair it is when another honors teacher teaching the same course is at least twice as easy. Though I suppose it doesn't matter now that we don't have GPA or class rank? Honestly, they say it's to take away competition, but isn't that the driving factor to success? All in all, not the worst but not good either.

I am writing to you as a new 11th-grade English teacher in a neighboring district (Franklin), and to be honest, PHS prepared me successfully for this path. After graduating in 2002, I realized that my years spent there were unforgettable and surprisingly wonderful. The Honors English program gave me a solid foundation for college, and the 8 clubs/activities that I joined were my world. As a result, the transition to TCNJ for my BA went smoothly; in fact, I ultimately became an English major! Despite several negative comments below regarding PHS, I counteract the spirit by saying, 'You get what you give.' I definitely do NOT regret my time at PHS...not even the dismal year in calculus! If you approach HS with a positive outlook, seeking to learn, there is little that can stop you. Consider this to be practical wisdom for both students and parents...

I've taught in this district for over 20 years and it has never been run so poorly. The board and the administrators are more concern with keeping their jobs while sitting idle. They are more concern about multi-culturalism than they are about anything else. The teachers do care dispite what many of the blogs go on to say. But our hands are tied. We get no support when it comes to enforcing the rules. They're a lot of students that should be expelled and there is nothing a teacher can do about it. I wouldn't send my kids here.

The curriculum is varied, everything from music to drama to art classes. The academic programs are decent. The teachers are involved with the students.

Last year I graduated from Piscataway High School and I find that that school prepared me well for college. Although there are some negative teachers, the rest try their best to make sure that students learn, especially with all the extra work they have. Although there are fights throughout the year, the new administration is trying to crack down and find ways to make the environment better for learning. There are so many extracurricular activities that its hard for someone to say that they can't find something they like. From a Ping-Pong Club to Football, there is something to find there. The music and art problems are excellent. The sports programs are very good as well, having come from one. Parent involvement could be a little higher, but the parents who care about their kid's education are very involved.
