This school has some great teachers but lacks strong leadership to support those teachers. Parents are encouraged to participate in the PTO but the PTO is not supported in it's efforts. The very large Hispanic presence in the school encourages the leadership to cater towards that population therefore alienating the english speaking population. Every meeting takes double the time due to the translation which has discouraged english speaking parents from attending meetings.

I have my son on Second Grade and what I see is that parental involvement is crucial if the school is to turn around for the better. Testing scores are worrisome and more is to be done to provide parents with a curriculum and a guideline of expectations to better understand the schools's vision. Better communication among staff needs to be done and a stronger PTO is needed. Teachers are mostly welcoming, but definitively need parental involvement to either ask for a better, structured teaching program, or to just simply help with the many tasks teachers encounter on their daily working day with our children.
