The focused and specialized learning curriculum at the school has really helped students to prepare for higher education. The result from the first graduating class of 2013 has been 100% graduation and 100% college acceptance. The teachers are caring and attentive, and the administration are committed to the goal of providing a top notch learning experince and education for the students of Plainfield.

This school has great faculty and staff. They work with students in small groups to improve student learning.

The Barack Obama Green Charter High School has proven to the community what they had promised: to make the difference. I am a community member and I has seen their growth and proven success. All students after graduation have a 100% admissions rate at competitive colleges. The faculty knows well their students, therefore their instruction is individualized. They have a challenging curriculum that is combined with community service learning. They apply in their community what they learn in the classroom. Also I am very impressed how their students take so much pride of their work and have identified themselves with the school. This is a school that is focused in college readiness as well as developing the students responsiveness towards the environment.

While I feel the STEM program is a strong academic program and the teachers really strive to teach the kids, the administration of this school leaves a lot to be desired. There is no direct communication from the school,or at the very least it is so limited, it is almost like no communication. They have taken the students on school trips and off school property on several occassions without notification to parents. It's very hard to actually speak with a live person as their automated system is not very user friendly. I must say they do have a variety of clubs and extra curricular activities, but parent involvement almost non-existant since there is no longer a PTO operating. They feel they do not have to inform the parents of any decisions the make, i.e., they relocated school locations, changed the starting time to the school day, yet never sent any notice home to advise the parents They also have a tendency to notify you by robo auto calls regarding activities at the school the day before or day of that something is going on. I can just no longer deal with these inconsistencies. Both me and my child deserve better and plan on making it happen real soon.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
