My experience and more importantly my daughter's experience with St. Paul School in Princeton couldn't be more positive. She loves attending this school and is anxious every day to tell me all about her day. She is getting a wonderful academic and religious education at St. Paul's in an environment that fosters community, service and respect. The teachers and staff are approachable and accomodating as well as being experienced and professional. I toured 3 Catholic and 2 private schools before deciding on St. Paul's and I couldn't have made a better decision for my daughter. There is an ethinally diverse student body which is an important issue for me. My daughter feels safe, loved and academically challenged on a daily basis. I have become good friends with the other parents who are very involved in the St. Paul community - both school and Church. I simply could not have asked for more and I know many of the St. Paul School parents feel the same way. We are truly blessed to be a part of the St. Paul School family.
St. Paul School of Princeton has been a great place for my kids! I found St. Paul School about 6 years ago, when I was searching for a full-time kindergarten for my daughter. As a working parent, I wanted a full-day option for my oldest child. I think you are always nervous when the 1st goes off to school and I was immediately put at ease when I visited the school. The kids were friendly and polite, the principal knew every child that walked by and the kindergarten teachers were warm and welcoming! While the plan was always to go to our town's top-rated public school after kindergarten was over, my daughter just loved St. Paul, and so did we. The rest is history! I now have 2 children there and a 3rd to come. There is a true community feel to it, and I love the fact that it is co-ed, that there are only 2 of each grade, and that class sizes are small. My daughters have really thrived there, and as a product of a Catholic-school education myself, I am happy that they are getting a great education in a caring faith-based environment. Very proud to be a part of this "community."
St Paul is the best choice for our family. We started our children in public school but did not like the large class size and lack of individual attention. We moved our 3 children into St Paul School 5 years ago and have been extremely pleased with the academic rigor and personal attention they get from teachers. We are now looking at high schools and I consistently hear admissions personnel praise the St Paul students who have come to their high schools. They praise their academic skills, character and sense of community. St Paul School has been the right choice for our family. .
From past reviews, it seems this school has gone downhill fast. There is very little focus on academics. The location is small and crowded with no real facilities for sports or a decent playground, just a coned off parking lot. The teachers seem inexperienced and fresh and there is a high turnover rate. Gossipy atmosphere among both teachers and parents. I volunteered for playground duty and the other mothers were chatting on the phone and gossiping among each other about other parents and teachers. The kids were running around cursing and no adult other than me seemed to notice or care. NOT a welcoming school for non-white students. Parents who want to tell their friends that their child goes to school in Princeton send them here because it's the cheapest private school in town and parents in this school only care about appearances (cars, clothing, handbags) and this is more a social organization for parents than a school. I'm pulling my child from this school at the end of the year. I wanted a Catholic education for my child, but I will have to look elsewhere. There is nothing Catholic about the behavior of parents, teachers and students in this school.
This school is a backup for many different schools. They care more about their "Princeton" location than their students. I am a student there and everyday i have to walk in and think "do i look good enough in my uniform?" and its mostly when your in 6th 7th or 8th grade. And the fact that I said uniform would make you wonder "why would he or she have to look good if your in a uniform?" Also, this school is very racist/ stereotypical. The students would walk around and comment if your doing something to black or white and the teachers do not care. Isnt this a catholic school? Well they arent very excepting.
My daughter attende St.Pauls from K- to 8th grade. We loved the school!!
My daughter, now in 4th grade, started at St. Paul last year. It literally turned her life around for the better. She learned so much in this one year that my husband and I were stunned. She developed studying skills that will last a lifetime. The moral thread that exists throughout the school gave her a feeling of being 'safe' around other kids. If busing were available, it would be perfect!
My three children, now in 2, 4, and 5th grades have attended this school for the past 4 years. The quality of the mathematics and language arts programs are very high. Standardized testing begins in the second grade, and school results are very competitive with other schools in the Princeton area. Other pluses of the school include a variety of extracurricular activities beginning in the 4th grade: various sports, music, science, and art clubs, an outstanding children's choir, and a personal moral aspect of education to educate the whole child. Minuses include the absence of school-sponsored bussing from some of the surrounding school districts, teacher turnover which can affect a great educational experience quickly
