Hubbard School has an excellent nurturing professional staff. Communication with teachers and principal is encouraged and easy. Academics are rigorous and grade-appropriate. Independent reading is encouraged and children can earn prizes for reading comprehension through voluntary participation in a special reading program. Ample help is available for those who need it in reading, math, speech, and other skill areas. A science lab for all grades has been added in 2010. Kindergarten is half-day, however, a wrap-around Kindergarten program is available for a fee so that children can stay and learn for a full day. Before and after-care programs are also available. Many cultural and enrichment programs are held throughout the year. Fun events are planned regularly for the children. There is a very active and productive PTO that provides many "extras" to the school through fundraising and provides many opportunities for family involvement during and after school hours. It is overall a very inclusive and academically successful place for children to learn.

Kindergarten prepares children to read and one K teacher has an incredible art program. Although K is a bit babyish, it is extremely nurturing. There are reading and math computer programs that track students. For example, if my son logs on to the math program in Kindergarten and has successfully displayed the ability to add and subtract, when he logs on in First grade, the program will offer him more challenging problems. Very active & open PTO. Great programs: author visits, MLK Day program, art & music, games day, family nights, school performances... Beautiful new courtyard garden. My only greivance is that the class list does not come out until Nov. which greatly limits parent's ability to arrange playdates. There was also no effort to get children together before school began to help ease entrance into Kindergarten. New principal in 2007-2008...
