Warm, inviting and close-knit. Peter Cooper school has beautiful facilities, caring staff, and involved parents. This is a wonderful place to send your K-3 grader and feel like he is in exceptional hands!

Very displeased with this school and it has been nothing less than a nightmare since I have moved here and put one of my children into the school. I have to say dealing with the people who work at this school has made me do a total 180 about how I feel about the Governor's stance on NJ public school systems; I now see what he was getting at.

Environment and teacher's involvement/education is great. I agree though, if your child begins to struggle, it can become difficult to get needs met in a timely fashion.

The principal, Mr Sutcliffe, is top notch. He knows all of the students by name, and is genuinely interested in each individual. The teachers are caring and kind. Thank you for making my child's experience there unforgettable!

Great school, loving teachers and good curriculm. However, if your child falls behind, he/she may get lost in the shuffle.

I think this is an exceptional school. Very dedicated teachers. Very involved PTO and parents. I will be sad to see my son graduate this school.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 New Jersey used the New Jersey Assessment of Skills and Knowledge (NJ ASK) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in language arts literacy and math, and in grades 4 and 8 in science. The NJ ASK is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of New Jersey. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.
