It will be a year now since the closing of one of the oldest and cherished Catholic schools in the area. How do you go from having almost 300 kids in 2001 to being shut down a few years later and your parish in triple figures debt? Answer: a total lack of leadership/oversight/accountability from the Diocese on down which resulted in having the children getting tossed overboard. Sadly, once you take away these schools, you're left with but a carcass for a parish. Will always miss the teachers/staff and family like atmosphere.

I taught at St Peter's years ago, The staff is wonderful and caring. You get a nice family -like atmosphere at St. Peter's. Everybody is somebody. However, the programs didn't hit the mark, due to lack of resources. The teachers were resourceful and excellent with what they had, it's just that neighboring schools offered more in terms of help for special needs and/or gifted children. I miss St. Peter's and am sad to hear it's closing.
