I am currently attending Copeland Middle School as an 8th grade student. The teachers are very hardworking and they care about the students in their classrooms. The student's behavior could be better, bullying and cursing are problems. Aside from that, everything about this school is great!
I was part of the 2nd graduating class of Copeland, I remember it being one of the best experiences in my life. I am so glad to see it still holds true today. Class of 1971.
Great school with a great atmosphere... Everything is done to make the students feel like they are a part of something, and that the faculty care about them.
Teachers are so committed, principal is great. Both of my kids received an excellent education at Copeland.
Copeland has exceeded my expectations and I couldn't be happier with the teachers and administration. I agree with the other parents that most of the kids can be rude and/or self centered. But perhaps that happens at all middle schools as mean behavior is usually caused by low self-esteem which is normal for this age. If you run into the problems, the staff and administration are caring, helpful and will enforce discipline as needed.
I have been involved in many teacher-parent activities. CMS teachers are enthusiastic + most truly like teaching MS students. Children are encouraged to go beyond their groups of friends to explore different activities + clubs. The handbook has clear guidelines for behavior + consequences are enforced. The bus drivers are always in touch with the school using walkie-talkies. If ALL the children actually used their manners all the time, there wouldn't be any problems. But some don't...especially on the bus. Kids at this age tend to pass off unkind remarks as 'just kidding around' + say they 'don't mean it'. I have tried to let my children know that this also happened when I was in MS + HS. Too bad some kids feel they need to put others down. Finding your own friends is important...and making good decisions to associate with people of similar values will assure their success.
Comparing this school to others I feel it rates considerable better due to its locale and budget. My daughter attends seventh grade and has had success all aspects of her education. I do see the children group into clicks and pass judgement easily on others. Foul langauge is rampant. Bullying does occur even among 'friends'. Girls are especially competive against each other and often seem petty. From observation it appears the mothers are the 'Not My Kid ' type, which unfortunately fuels the childrens bad behavior. The buses are unsupervised and bad behavior btwn the children on the bus hasnt changed since my son attended there four years ago. Overall much of the bad behavior stems from example. The school gets 4 stars and the parents get 1.
This is school is...ok at best, the kids separte into there own little groups (Jocks, Smart people, and the norms) The teachers aren't that great, either the too strict or blabbler on about stuff we don't need to know. The music program is very nice. If you come to Copeland expect an average school
This school is wonderful. I love it! It is very organized and has great teachers. Everybody at this school is very polite and is very friendly. If you come to Copeland, everyday will be a special new experience!
I am currently a student in Copeland Middle School and I think our school is great! I learn something new everyday and the teachers make it fun to learn.I highly recommend Copeland Middle School.
Copeland Middle School is an excellent public school. My third child is now a student here. The instructional and support staff are dedicated to their mission of educating students. The school offers an exceptional fine and performing arts department. Many clubs and after school groups bring students with similar interests together to share their knowledge with each other. The administration is strong and fair with respect to discipline. The physical plant is maintained and clean, and my child's safety has never been a concern. The school is state of the art with modern science labs, a new second gym and a recently added wing to accommodate the growing population. The school sponsors Honor Society so that students are encouraged to work hard and excel, and are recognized for such efforts. An active PTA frequently sponsors Friday night socials so students may gather. My experience with this school has been terrific.
This school is absolutely horrible. Their teachers don't teach the children what they are supposed to be teaching them. They go to school everyday and when they get home I say,'What did you learn today?' She answers everyday,'Nothing,' when she has homework I have to help her almost everyday becuase what she has for homework doesn't have anything to do with what they learned that day. I plan on taking my daughter out of this school anyday now because she isn't learning anyhting and she is learning what she learned in second grade. Just beaware parents you could be sending your children to a better school.
