ALL FOUR OF MY CHILDREN WENT TO OLV. NOW THREE OF MY GRANDCHILDREN. MY CHILREN GREW UP TO LOVE GOD AND MAKE HIM A PART OF THEIR DAILY LIVES. ALL HAVE BACHELOR DEGREES AND SUCCESSFUL CAREERS. WHO COULD ASK FOR MORE.
I have one child that graduated from here and one still attending. The curriculum is on par with the state of NJ and there is an accelerated math program which really helped my child excel in more rigorous math courses in high school. For the person who wrote the previous review, you will notice the difference when your child is in high school. It is my opionion that my high school student is excelling beyond her peers who came from other schools, both public and private in all areas (math, writing language arts, social studies and science . I would highly recommend this school. I don't think it receives enough credit and I find it outstanding!
I transfer my kid here after a disapointing experience for a semester in a "highly ranked" Montessory School in the area. For a kid this small, is not only about the quality of teaching but also about how you as a parent feel about leaving your kid there. Everybody is extremely friendly from the crossing guard to the principal. It is a smaller school so they do get to know you by name. Since both of us work, this is really important for us. It has not been a month since school started and my kid has learned way more than what she did in the school she was before. She does not struggle or cry in the mornings. Moreover, since is a faith-based school, they are teching here about maners, respect. It si awesome. Highly recommend.
My child attended this school. The secretary is extremely nice, however the academics were only average at best. I expected a curriculum that was more challenging, but unfortunately, this was not the case. The school tends to follow the same phonics curriculum as the township, which to me is not a plus.
OLV provides an excellent curriculum. The reading program is the same as the public schools have to offer & the math program is top notch as well. The school has a Spanish program for all grades & excellent art & music programs. The teachers use different teaching methods to keep the children interested with the most recent addition being Smart Boards for all classes to utilize. OLV is a very family oriented environment where all children are welcome & always encouraged to do their best. The extracurricular activities are also numerous including: basketball/cheerleading, chess club, newspaper, chorus & Willabees just to name a few. OLV is the place to be!
My son has been doing great at OLV. He is actually looking forward to school starting up again. The academics are top-notch and the teachers actually care about how he does. The extracurricular activities are low, but my so does not go to school to play sports, he goes to school to learn!!
My children have done very well in this school and I am quite happy with the direction that is now being taken by the administration. Academics are improving and morale is on its way up. I recommend it highly to any family seeking quality education in this area!!!
My experience is quite different. The academic curriculum is on par with what is expected in the state of NJ. The principal is implementing advanced math and reading programs next year to advance past the norm. My children are thriving as is seen by their state testing scoes in all subject areas and they do not attend extra help programs. They are happy, safe and academically challenged and I have no doubt they will thrive high school and college. I would highly recommend this school. It is the best in the area as compared to the other local schools.
From my own experience, math skill and language arts skills are very low. The rest of the subjects is similar. Most of the OLV graduates, in my opinion, do not have a chance of being accepted to any rigorous high school, catholic or private. Unless, of course, the parents invest heavily in tutoring. Other than that the school is small, safe and friendly. However, again, if you are looking for school academically strong go somewhere else.
This school is the best in the area. The teachers and principal push academics and student involvement in activities. The music, gym and art teachers are phenomenal if your child is into the arts or physical education. There are many extra curricular activities. The principal is very involved and she makes an effort to get to know each and every child. The school puts on the best Christmas show every year. My kids love it here and I feel secure knowing they are in a safe, nurturing and challenging environment. I would highly recommend it to anyone moving to the area.
