The Montessori Children's Academy has provided an outstanding education for both of my children. They are curious and inquisitive children that love to learn because of the exceptional institution that has been established to nurture and cultivate young minds.

My third child will be graduating from kindergarten at The Montessori Children's Academy next month. Six years ago when we enrolled, I NEVER would've guessed just how much this school would come to mean to my family. Academically, the implementation of the Montessori methodology is superb and all three of my children have blossomed! Socially, they have all thrived from their interactions with their peers and teachers. [In reference to the school's bullying policy - as mentioned in another review - it is clearly stated in the parent handbook and the Director is VERY thorough in her follow through on ALL policies.] The teachers and other parents are warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere of the school is positive and nurturing. The school offers parent workshops that are very helpful for parents interested in learning more. If my family was not moving out of state, my husband and I had already decided our youngest would be attending 1st grade at the academy next year. I can only hope that we are able to locate a school of this high quality in Virginia. I truly feel that we are leaving our extended family. DEFINITELY worth checking out for Pre-K through Elementary. Excellent school!!!

I am new to the Montessori method and, quite frankly, was a skeptic. On the recommendation of a friend I enrolled my child. WOW! She is thriving here. Everyday she comes home with a fire in her eyes. This is just what I want to see as a parent. Her teacher is caring and supportive as is the entire school. Communication is open and so is the door. I can sit and watch her class whenever I want. I am so happy to have found this school and so is my daughter!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

What is the GreatSchools Rating?

The GreatSchools rating is a simple tool for parents to compare schools based on test scores, student academic growth, and college readiness. It compares schools across the state, where the highest rated schools in the state are designated as “Above Average” and the lowest “Below Average.” It is designed to be a starting point to help parents make baseline comparisons. We always advise parents to visit the school and consider other information on school performance and programs, as well as consider their child's and family's needs as part of the school selection process.

Breaking down the GreatSchools Rating

Unfortunately, this school doesn't have sufficient data to generate an academic rating.

Oops! We currently do not have any student information for this school. We rely on the state Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and in some cases school administrators such as registrars and principals for this data.
