My children have gone there and I was never happier. They have been closed down because of the decline of students, but it was one great community of people. I loved it so much and if I were someone looking for a catholic school I would send them to JP2 Regional School in Stratford (the school where OLG, St Lukes, and St Lawrence's have all joined)
My children have never been happier and neither have I. Principal and teachers are very approachable and cooperative. My kids know that their teachers care about them.
The quality of the Kindergarten program is outstanding. Our child's academic confidence has soared under the Christian example of the teacher. The families share similar values and expectations, creating a strong committed community of families able to come together for the good of all our children. The faculty has incredible education and are obviously dedicated as many have been there for years. The music education is terrific and even the littlest children are able to take piano lessons. There are fun Christmas plays, Talent shows, plenty of artistic opportunities for the children. Track is available from Kindergarten thru 8 and they have cheerleading, basketball, bowling, academic clubs, advanced math clubs, student council, newspaper. The parental involvement is good. Everyone helps out as much as they can and there is no 'I do more than you' attitude Fundraising is a necessary evil, a bit stressful but I understand the need.
Also, I recently moved my children to public school and believe they see more Christianity in public school then they received from OLG/HRRS. They are many Catholic schools in this area and believe that any of them would be a better choice.
I understand that the tuition is always an issue. I have two children in OLG HRS and I am very happy with the quality of education, the student to teacher ratio and the parent involvement. More importantly my children are happy and that is what is important to me.
My children were in this school for one year. I considered pulling them halfway through. There is nothing offered for the amount of money we pay in tuition. My kids are now in the local public school and have many services offered to them. They are still getting their Catholic education through the CCD program (probably more than they were getting in this school because the CCD teachers actually teach by example.)
Excellent academic programs. Improving every year. Sports such as basketball, track and cheer leading. Weak in the music department. But the level of parent involvement is very high. This makes for a great school in my opinion.
