This school has an outstanding music, marching band, and colorguard program. The people who run the programs do an amazing job. The language arts department is also really gifted at teaching students the foreign languages! There are really great teachers, but some really bad teachers! The principal is very nice and understanding of the students. There are tons of things to do and the spirit that is shown throughout the school is incredible.

The school is a great place to expand your involvement with students from other cultures who share the same interests and ideas that you also have. The music program is great, and so are all of the E.C. activities offered. Also, school spirit is greatly enforced by students and staff. There is something for everyone to do there. The only negative to be had is the teacher quality. When you get a good teacher, they are great. And when you get a bad teacher, ITS BAD, like REALLY BAD. The prinicpal is understanding and talking to students and staff in such a respectable manner. Also, the physical establishment could definitely use some improvements. inside and outside. But I am definitely proud to be a graduate.

Outstanding music department - two incredibly dedicated and gifted instructors. The engineering program 'Project Lead the Way' is a great intro to students interested in design.

Please delete in my 06 October comment the lack of Somerville High web site. After several attempts, I found the site at http://www.somervillenjk12.org/2007/high_school/home.cfm I apologize for issuing that comment so quick.

Somerville High does not even have a home web page of their own. This school seemed to be behind and mismanaged. Their marching band is deteriorating.

I was a student at Somerville High (class of 2001). This school has great school spirit and pride. The Music, theater, and colorguard programs were excellent and gave me some of my fondest H.S. memories. I loved the teachers and how diverse our student body was. Regular metal detector checks and locker checks made us feel safe. It showed us how much the school cared about us. I have several younger cousins attending Somerville High now, and I'm glad their there.
