No class selection, all freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors are assigned to the same classes every year. lack of organization in the classroom and virtually no extra-curricular activities. Veritas isn't really a school, its more like a homeschool group that meets in a church. In my opinion, it would be very hard for a child to succeed in the real would when in this tiny, sheltered environment. Unless you are an extremely conservative christian and don't care about having any class or extra curricular options, id check out another school.

This is a wonderful school that teaches the Christian worldview in all its courses of study. We have two graduates in our family and they are moving on successfully to college. A great place to send your child. All teachers and staff are excellent, loving and supportive. A blessing to have this school in our community

Veritas Christian Academy has proved its worth among private schools in Northern New Jersey. It has provided a great education to its students and continues to have a bright future. Veritas Christian Academy is committed to strong and prescriptive worldviews that fit within conservative evangelical protestants. It is difficult for students to formulate their own worldview because they feel the peer and teacher pressure to conform to views that are taught instead of being encouraged to formulate a worldview for themselves based off of Scripture. Veritas Christian Academy offers an alternative to public education and travel to other Christian schools. However, parents and students must way academic achievement with the value of their own personal and religious convictions. Those who don't define themselves as conservative evangelicals (I am not one) beware.

I am the parent of a former student, a current student, and a future student, as well as the parent of an older child that attended a public HS. There is no comparison between the behavior & attitude of the students at Veritas, and my older daughters former classmates. MOST of the students at Veritas are great kids who truly desire to do what is right in their lives. There is not a lot of peer pressure to do bad things, in fact, most of the students want nothing to do with "bad things" and steer clear of those who do. The staff has been awesome and there for my son for the past 4 years. They have lovingly encouraged him to join sports when they knew he had ability, and he ended up playing 2 years of soccer and loving it. He also joined the band (after never being in any type of band program) and loved that and being in the school play as well. More kids do more things here - kids are not put into a stereotypical group for one of their abilities. My daughter has loved having an older female student mentor her. I am a very active parent and around these kids all the time. They are the real deal.

Excellent teachers, strong principal and school leaders, challenging academic programs but it is just like any school. Many children have had issues in this school, constant pressures, drama and battles. They are growing, and as they do more battles will come. As long as they stay strong in the word and truly look at the issues and try to solve them they will succeed.

VCA has been such a wonderful experience for our child after attending the local public middle and high schools. Unlike the other private schools in the area, VCA carefully chooses those students who are attending for the "right" reasons, not those who have been problems at other schools. The level of commitment among the staff and students has been leaps above those in the public schools. The students at VCA are truly the future Christ-centered leaders of tomorrow...bright, articulate, goal-driven, honest, caring and ethical. It is with great honor that my child has been able to represent VCA as part of their student body. A well, rounded education that has been worth every dollar!

This really is a fine school, well worth spending the money for a much better preperation for the world than public schools give. Christian faith is central here, which is fine with us, but please understand that before you apply to Veritas. If faith is important to your family, send your kids here.

Just to bring the info on Veritas Christian Academy up-to-date: this is a full academic High School meeting New Jersey State standards, for grades 9 through 12. Enrollment for the 2009-2010 Year was 72 students. Our son loves this school after spending all previous years in public school, a less than satisfactory experience! Good Academics, family involvement, a growing sports program and respectful student behavior are some distinctives at Veritas. There are no put-downs, everyone gets along, and there is a positive, helping atmosphere. Several on staff are former Public HS Teachers. The school is located on Route 15, just outside Sparta, NJ. Annual tuition is reasonable. If at least one parent is of evangelical Christian faith, and the family is committed to the idea, you should check into this for the Fall. About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
