I am a parent of a future EMS student. I am also a substitute teacher, and have worked here in various capacities. I am incredibly impressed by the staff. The Prin. and Ast. Prin. are terrific! The two of them are approachable, understanding, and never turn their backs on a student OR a parent. If you want to be involved in your child's education, you have a wonderful team of educators to work with at this school. Yes, there are a couple of teachers that should pack it in,(but where isn't that the case?), but in general, I am very much looking forward to my son attending 7th & 8th grades here (I wish it also had 9th!). Every single department has teachers for students that excel, and students that need special services...and a guidance dept. that will help along the way. Any problems that exist are not unique to EMS, but exist in all of the schools in Roxbury, and fault really falls in the laps of the board. They do not come from a place of "putting the child first". And the fault of the board? THAT falls in the laps of the residents, the one's who vote, (and especially those that don't) to elect these people.

Its a cool school. The teachers are nice and you learn a lot. The music program is really big, too. We have so many after school activities that are fun.
