The teachers for the most part are wonderful. Some better than others, as is the case everywhere. Parent involvement is definitely key ... so yes ... get involved and make yourself and your child known and it will benefit everyone in the end!
This school is ok. It went down the tubes since my oldest was there. My youngest is in first grade. She comes home with stories of her bus ride home and how the kids curse, and the lunch ladies are mean. All the teachers my oldest daughter had are either retired or an art teacher. But they were great.
My daughter is currently a studen at Whittier and I'm very satisfied with curriculum and the teachers are wonderful. Parent involvement is the KEY to success of any school and so GET INVOLVED!
My daughter attended Whittier for 2nd and 3rd grade. Her teachers were excellent, both had well over 10 years of experience. They were able to manage a multi-cultural classroom of diverse children and tailored each child's learning experience to his/her needs. Dr. Bourne-Busby, the principal, is willing to listen to parent's suggestions and make a considered decision rather than just applying a set 'rule' to all children.
