The Village school is an amazing well rounded education!! I have seen my boys become independent students who are very confident in their own abilities. In all the years they have attended the school they have never expressed on any day that they don't wish to attend. They have developed such a love of learning, they are curious, interested in research and have the ability to think outside the box! The teachers are amazing and really know the children. It is a school where the teachers really want to be there. Their passion for teaching and the joy they get when helping a child is so obvious. These are teachers that don't just teach to the test! The children from toddlers through to the middle school are one big happy community that works together giving the children an educational foundation for a life time. I highly recommend this school to those who really care if their child is going to get a whole child education!
Teachers and the director are very nice and knowledgeable. The school is well equipped with all the necessary montessori materials with a very nice environment (bright sunny classrooms/gym/music..). it has a very nice teacher to student ratio. However, in the primary level (preschool class for 3-6) I don't think the teachers keep track of student progress that well. I found my kid spent most of his time in doing practical life rather than language or math. As a working mom, I found it stressful not to participate enough at the school. Even though the school has before and after school care (new since 2009), it is quite expensive to put my kid there for my working hours. If I could be wealthy enough to stay home and keep track on my kid's progress as well as participate more at school, I would let my kid stay until 8th grade.
The Village School is exceptional on so many levels. I feel as though I am giving my children a gift by providing this education to them. The Teachers are sincerely interested in the success of each child and the children are encouraged to be creative and independent while there is still an emphasis on academics, ethics, and social responsibility. The self-confidence demonstrated by the middle school children enforces my confidence in the choice we have made for our childrens education. I highly recommend The Village School!
This is a wonderful nurturing well rounded school. I have been a parent at the school for 10 yrs now. I currently have two children in the school. They are both doing well, academically, socially and emotionally. They are so interested and excited about learning. They have great confidence in themselves and carry themselves well in any situation they are put in. They participate in our local town sports and it never bothers them that they don't go to the public school. They mix well with whomever they meet. I put a lot of this down to The Village School and the way the children are encouraged to be independent and think for themselves. I highly recommend investing in your child's future by giving them the wonderful education that the Village School can provide!!!!!!!
Once you visit the school and see how much your child loves to learn and how invested the teachers become invested in your child's well-being, you will stop looking once you walk through the doors of the Village School. We could not be happier and satisfied.
I agree that this school is exemplary. Staff is knowledgeable, caring, and compassionate. Teachers are state certified and Montessori trained and certified. I hated having to put my 5 year in public Kindergarten. I feared that he wouldn't do as well because he has a hard time with transitions. But, they prepared him so well that he loves school. I have heard everyone say how well the school prepares children for outside the Montessori method. But, for some children, Montessori is just the right thing for them. My daughter is now at the school and can't wait to go back each day. There is a lot of parent involvement and activities too.
