Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

We have a wonderful teaching staff at our K-4 school. The teachers really do care about their students - both current and past. They always ask the parents how the kids are doing when they hit higher grades. Most teachers are quick to point out if there is a problem - but open 2-way communication is a must for this. I have special needs children - yes I fought tooth & nail for my oldest's IEP (2 yrs to get it) and it finally took the Interim Superintendent's intervention to get the initail IEP. The Child Study Team is wonderful - esp our case worker. I have had wonderful experiences with all our teachers and really do consider them wonderful, caring professionals. Some people do not care for our principal. She can be a little standoffish BUT does a wonderful job. She has to take a business stance and because of that, she comes off as being cold. Working with her these past 7 years, I can't say enough good things about her. She will fight for kids (when appropriate), is open to talk (parent MUST keep a level head), & she enjoys her job. She puts the needs of all her students above everything. I can't say the same for our Superintendent - wish we had an Interim still.

The teachers have been great. The education seems very focused on math. That's not such a bad thing, just doesn't seem well rounded. If your child requires special needs or has an IEP, you will find out that they are very understaffed to accommodate this. You really have to fight for your rights to get the help your child needs. I recomend bringing an advocate to your child study team meetings and recording them. It's sad because they are getting funding from the state and it's not being used efficiently. The Principal, how do I explain, more like a warden than a K-4 leader. Not very personable. If you plan on driving your child to school be prepared, it is organized confusion and if you are picking them up its 10 times worse than the morning. They have 2 playgrounds so on nice days the kids will get to play outside during recess. In 2012 they opened the school 2 weeks late because they had mold cleaned professionally. What I think that means is that they waited until they had too many complaints and were forced to do it, otherwise it would have been taken care of in the summer. If you have the money for private school, you might want to look into that option.

We have had wonderful teachers during our time at HHS and have encountered many caring staff members, as well. As a previous poster said, the principal is not warm or very compassionate towards the children. She seems to lack the social skills and understanding of child development for dealing with elementary students. The superintendent is the complete opposite and helps where the principal lacks. Parent involvement opportunities are offered, but can be hard to accommodate for those parents that work. It is disappointing that no more than three parents can attend the annual parties to share in those memories with the children. Parent attendance for field trips is also very limited. Some changes at this school could make HHS a top school in the area, but if there are no administration changes, the school will not improve.

We have been at HH for several years now and the staff is very caring, warm and professional. The principal also cares very deeply about the children, the security of the school as well as ensuring that open communication with parents is established. The teachers and principal are very willing to work with parents and are very responsive to any concerns that come up. Our children love going to school and they are learning & developing very nicely. Its a great place to go to school, I would recommend to anyone looking for a K-4 elementary for their children.

My son loves going to school everyday is a great day. The teachers are warm and caring. So far our time at the school has been great but we still have a couple more years to go. I will say that I have yet to meet the principal which isn't a plus at my childs old school the principal was the first and last person i saw as i entered and left the school. She just needs to be a little more out there. Other then that it's great

The school leadership has changed since the last reviews have been posted. While there are many excellent teachers and an awesome guidance counselor at the school, the highly educated principal is young, inexperienced and ineffective. She is truly an administrator who does not have any warmth or affection towards children and looks at the school as a stepping stone to higher administrative positions. This school needs some serious changes or it will continue to decline.

I have a niece in fourth grade at Holly Hills. I am a fourth grade teacher in the Willingboro School District. I think that HH is Incredible! My niece has excelled academically and socially. She is involved in Karate after school through HH. Every teacher that she has had has been phenomenal! They have instilled in her a love of learning. She loves school and I attribute this to her wonderful teachers and principal. I am not ashamed to say that I have used many of her teachers' ideas with my own class. I love the fact that each teacher has a Website. I cannot say enough about the wonderful education that my niece is getting at Holly Hills School! Thank you HH. You Rock!!

Holly Hills is a wonderful school and has given my two children an above average learning experience. The principal and staff really care about the children and go beyond what is expected of them to make sure that the children are receiving a quality education.

My daughter attended a private school for kindergarten and first grade, and I do not regret enrolling her in Holly Hills. Now she is exposed to academic enrichment programs as well as extracurricular activities, including band and intramural sports. Parents are encouraged to be invloved (and not just for fund-raising opportunituies)and there is a great mixture of young, energetic teachers and seasoned more experienced teachers. The PTA has won many state awards and parets are kept informed with a website and a monthy newsletter. The student body is diverse, representing the real world although the teaching staff is primarly White. The Principal is superb. He is approachable and truly loves his job. Now my son is a student at Holly Hills, and I know he will have a great learning experience.
