I like the help my child gets in his classes at Academia. He has an extended math class for 85 minutes everyday. He has P.E., 2 spanish classes, a hands-on science class and likes his other classes too. He has good friends and is happy at Academia. He talks to me about his day. This school has given him self-confidence so he now feels good about himself. He has goals for his future now too. He has never seen a fight at the school either. He was always talking about who was mad enough to fight or who actually did when he was in public school. The accountability cards I have to sign nightly let me know what assignments he needs to turn in and what his grade is in each class every week. The website: www.laspanteras.org has teachers lesson plans and emails. I found out about school closings by going there. The kids are rewarded by an afternoon of play in the nearby park or icecream for not having bad marks on their cards. The New Mexico Van of Enchantment came to the school this year and showed the kids about New Mexico History. They went to Santa Fe on the railrunner to visit the museums there too. I attended that trip. It was nice to see the kids all having a good time.
My brother recently starting attending ADLC, I am very pleased with the extra attention he has recieved from teachers. He was going to publics schools before this and failed horribly. He now is on the right track he needs to be on to parpare him for high school. I see his confidence rising everyday as an older sister who looks out for him it's rewarding to watch.
This school has helped my child do better in math and social studies and plenty of up to date technology. They have curriculum that can be accessed at home online.
My child attended this school till the end of November 2009. He was transferred out as this school was not prepared to educate him and help him to learn and succeed. He went from good grades to 'D's' and 'F's'. After transferring him to another school he is now getting the education and help he needs to succeed his grades are back up to A, B, and C's and he is happy once again. He now wants to go to school and wants to learn. It was very difficult for him in this school as his teachers were not willing to work with him. It's easy to teach a child that learns easily. My child needed a little extra help that he did not get. The school was aware of his needs and did nothing to help him.
