My daughter has been here for 2 years and I can't believe how far ahead she seems to be then her friends who attend other schools! I love that they wear uniforms, I think all schools should. I wish there was more parent interaction though.
Tomasita is a school with low expectations and an unchallenging cirriculum. Both years my daughter has attended, she has excelled in the classroom--not because she's extraodinarily intelligent, but because the work has been far too easy. It's a wonder the test scores are low. One can't expect students to test at 3rd grade levels while they're being taught at a 1st grade pace. Rather than come down on absent teachers and work on a better educational plan, the faculty puts its energy into tightening the dress code and countless fundraisers. Tomasita also prides itself on a new Standards Based report card, which takes away the alphabetical grading system, giving uninspired students even less incentive to do their best.
