My son is a 6th grader in his first year at Albuquerque Institute of Math and Science (AIMS). So far it's been great. I love the principal and he's doing quite well there. Admission is highly competitive by lottery. I recommend AIMS highly.
AIMS has been an amazing experience for my daughter. She has always been very advanced and had begun to float through school without challenges and stimulation. In sixth grade, I started to get very discouraged with APS schools, and then we heard about AIMS. She was selected for seventh grade and to my amazement and relief, was stimulated and challenged from day one! AIMS encourages and praises academic achievement in the same manner that athletics is promoted in most other schools. In addition to an amazing staff, the students at AIMS encourage and inspire each other through teamwork and camaraderie. Peer pressure at its best! The work that they do is hard, but they push themselves and their classmates to greatness. The staff have been hand picked and, in my opinion, are the cream of the crop and the best in their field. As for the administration, they are no nonsense, not interested in the bureaucracy involved in public education. Their goal is simply to best possible education for each and every student enrolled, and that is what these kids get! Five stars and two thumbs WAY up, AIMS!
