I must credit Freedom High School with my son's drastic improvement in academics. Most of the classes are self paced, which it seems when a young adult is given an option, they will choose to do well. The classes are 'college like', which works for them, and us. It is a small close knit community, which is geared solely toward helping wayward (for lack of a better word) kids do well, and get back on track. On the downside, there are not really any 'extras', like lunch, (kids have to go out, or bring their lunch) or band. However, they really don't need it, as most of these kids are trying really hard to just finish high school. A plus...they are given extra points for attending cultural events, and the teachers (called advisors) helpfully push them towards attending college courses. Overall, it's a fantastic alternative to public schools for those in need.
