In Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) students are assigned to a school based on where they live. Students may apply to transfer to another school in the district (called intradistrict school choice), a charter or magnet school, or a school outside the district (called interdistrict choice).Under the federal No Child Left Behind law, students attending a Title I school designated as "in need of improvement" have the right to attend a higher-performing school in the district.
