Chamisa Elementary appears to be a wonderful school with many good qualities. It's quite disappointing, however, that the school has no cafeteria. I thought that only 'Little House on the Prairie' school was the only one that didn't. The school presented a parents' program with music and script recently and it was great. But, was the show representing Mexico or was it an overview of New Mexico (Northern New Mexico culture) ? Also, some of the words used were mispronounced; maybe misspelled to begin with. (Not the children's fault) Maybe next time we can have a Bilingual educator review the program before it's presented to the public as I'm guessing you may have about 80 parents there, not to mention that your skills would definitely satisfy the New Mexico State Bilingual Department. Do you get any funding from them? Oh well, Chamisa is a nice school>>training nice teachers>>training nice kids!
We have sent 5 children to Chamisa and have been totally impressed with the quality of teaching and the caring, friendly staff in general. The music & art programs are outstanding, as is the parent involvement. Out of the four different schools we've had our children in, this is the best!
Outdoor equipment in disrepair due to backorder. Building & facilities need attention due to funding issues. Staff & educators all seem top-notch. Somewhat disappointed that many core principles must be taught by parents according to instructions given by teachers.
