This is the best school my son has ever attended. He loves it. It has been the best in education for my son and for his self esteem. I recommend this school to any parent with a child with special needs.
The understanding and pulling out the potential of my child is what makes them a wonderful school. My child has just flourished and excelled because he is treated like a person not just a special needs child.
My daughter was in the public school most of her life... However in high school she entered henry viscardi.... This school should win every award....It is excellent! in every way...The teachers, the staff, the administration see the potential in every student. The self-confidence, the right to advocate for herself, the independence in just 1 year are amazing!!!! i cant say enought about henry viscardi and the work they do to get my daughter and others to succeed where others failed.
It is the very best school for special education. The students there have high academic performance. Many special schools do not encourage special needs students to fulfill their full potential. It is time to applaud the ones that truly deserves it. Bravo Henry Viscardi School!
It's been 3 years since my Son attended HVS. We are so grateful to the wonderful staff that populate this terrific school. My son has multiple physical handicaps and he would not be able to achieve the goals he attain today without the staff and resources of the school. This school is a G-d sent! There are also so many devoted volunteers that help the children become the best that can be! Everyone just love the kids. This school should receive top rating for the special placeitis.
This school has been one of the best things to ever happen to my nephew who is stricken with muscular dystrophy. It has done so much for his confidence and has provided him with a real sense of community. The academic environment is top notch and the teachers and faculty are spectacular!
It is a private, special education school which provides Pre-K through High School education for physically challenged students of all backgrounds. In many ways, it is far better than having your child attend a local school district, if that district does not provide adequate accommodations for your child. These accommodations go way beyond what you would find in an IEP, e.g. full inclusion in all activities, teachers willing to work with parents' needs (like giving homework assignments on Friday for the following week) etc. The school staff provides social activities, wheelchair basketball, and a very supportive environment. They tend to underestimate the child's overall abilities, and make no allowances for highly motivated, hard working students.
My daughter has been going to the Henry Viscardi School(HVS)since kindergarten and now she's going to the 8th grade. She says she absolutely loves going back to school after the summers over because it's her only time she can see her friends. HVS has one of the best academic and extracurricular activities I've ever seen in any other school I looked into for my daughter. Some of the after school activities they have at HVS is After School Recreation which means kids from grade 4-12 stay after school on every other Friday Night were kids can join clubs or even just hangout with their friends. Another activity they have is the HVS basketball teams. The Cubbies are for elementary students and the Cougers are for secendray studets. And thats why I think the Henry Viscardi School is great.
