Have to agree with most reviews in the sense that most of the teachers have been great, but there's a major lack of team atmosphere. The principal does not seem to have much of a relationship with the staff. Lack of staff involvement with parent activities like PTO is a dissappointment. I was told this was the best school in the area, but that attitude has made Allegany think they can't improve the existing situation. New families are not welcomed for a tour of the school like in other schools we have been to. Principal needs to follow up, especially when there are problems, she seems to avoid them! If you are new to the area, don't believe the hype.

Great School - BUT - The principal is a 'Here and now' person. Don't walk away from her when asking something. The teacher and PTO relationship is not present for the most part.

Wonderfully organized character education program, structured school environment which promotes respect and responsibility. Excellent teachers in K and 1st grade to teach phonics skills and basic reading skills.

Nice school atmosphere, but it seems you really have to watch out which teacher you get. They have a policy of not allowing teacher requests, but you can refuse a teacher. It seems the teachers whose jobs are secure are uncontrollable. Also very little teacher involvement in things such as PTO and other family related activities. Very nice new facility. Not as great as everyone made it out to be!

This is the best school in the world! The principal is very active with the children, and everything is perfect. Unfortunetly I moved away and am now living in New Jersey and I miss New York and its school system very much. I am a year ahead of my class thanks to the excellent quality and teaching skills of the AES. I wish that I could move back.
