I am a graduate of Andes Central School. I moved to Andes in 1st grade from another school district and I am now a Magna Cum Laude at an ivy league college. The teachers at Andes were always willing to go above and beyond to help me learn. I am passionate and aggressive in gaining of my knowledge, and the teachers at Andes were always there to help and guide me. Just like in college, my perseverance in high school paid off. Andes offers incredible opportunities for all students of varying abilities who want to learn. I totally recommend this school! Thank you Andes!
This year (2008-09) Andes Central School implemented a new core reading program in grades K-5, all students in grades K-10 receive at least 80 minutes of ELA per day, struggling high school readers received guided reading instruction (based on research from Johns Hopkins University), and those not struggling were in 'Great Books' classes. A school-wide writing program was also implemented, so students are writing across the curriculum. This is a phenomenal academic incentive for the students at Andes Central School.
Andes Central School has very low standards and expectations. With such small classes, it could and should be an outstanding school. It's a 'feel good' school that really doesn't prepare kids for college.
Andes Central School is an exceptional school. My daughter goes there instead of to the local school and loves it. The teachers are top-notch.
