At first, I was very happy with everything in the school. I am not a complainer, and the fact that my child always did well made it easy to like the school. There is a strong parent/community presence. But apparently, not strong enough to get certain teacher out of the school. It seems as your child gets older, it becomes more apparent that math and science are weak. I've heard from parents that this becomes a problem once they are in HS; even though they are getting into good schools, they are behind their new classmates. I'm speaking specifically about math: the teaching methods in junior high leave a lot to be desired. And there is essentially no point in complaining; parents have been for years and it has fallen on deaf ears. And once in junior high, they have the same teachers in most subjects for 3 years. Prior to junior high, I've had a great experience. The principal does know everyone. There has been more bullying issues of late (but that is everywhere). Parents are speaking out, and some interventions have been initiated. We'll see if they make a difference.

I am so proud to be a part of Sacred Heart School. My child has been challenged by all of the dedicated teachers and continues to excel in all subject areas. He has participated in after school activities such as Mad Science, Computers, Cub Scouts and CYO sports. I love that the Bullying program has been implemented as early as kindergarten. There is a great deal of parental involvement at Sacred Heart which helps to make it a close knit community. The principal, Mr. Farrell, is an amazing principal who really gets to know all the kids. I highly recommend Sacred Heart School to all of my friends and family.

Go and look at where these students graduate into -- Chaminade, Stuyvesant, Bronx Science, Townsend Harris, LaGuardia, Regis. Enough said.

Seriously the positive reviews are from parents who love the school. The principal is amazing and the my children love the school. It is worth every penny spent. No school is perfect, but I love the school and the people. My children have gotten a wonderful education. The principal does not have to do anything the school speaks for itself. The children score wonderful and get into great high schools. No other school can even compare. Some children do need special programs if they struggle, which the public school can offer, but as far as Catholic Schools go Sacred Heart is the best! It is sad that some feel the need to bash the school, if you are unhappy go elsewhere. Good Luck!

Seriously the positive reviews sounds like the principal is writing them himself...this school is terrible...teachers are a joke and principal is no better. I wish I could say something nice, but for the amount of tuition they get your better off sending your child to public school. Not worth the money at all. They need to hire younger teachers that care.

Sacred Heart is a wonderful school! I am very happy with the school and with all that my children have learned through the years. I have read some of these reviews and have heard all of the complaints and I would just like to say that my children have never dealt with any bullying, physical or mental. That being said every school should have in place an intervention program so that no child will ever have to deal with that on any level. Bullying is not acceptable, but kids in every school do it and we must have a system in place to deal with it. I have friends in surrounding Catholic schools and academies who share all of our complaints about Sacred Heart and say that the same things happen in their schools. Parents doing the teaching and too much homework are issues that as a parent you must deal with, my children have gotten a solid education at Sacred Heart. The surrounding Catholic schools and academies cannot not compete on any level. The parents who want to complain should try to make things better instead of talking about it. Lets teach our children that you can be a part of the solution, not the problem.

I am happy with this school! Both my children attend. I know the children get alot of HW & parents feel that they are the ones teaching, but this shouldn't be the case. We are supposed to check our childs homework not do it. if its not right, we as the parents have a responsibility to notify the teacher on the matter & the teacher in return they can futher help our children. At least that what I have suscusfully done in the past. There is a real safe family feel to our school on the outside looking in, BUT THERE IS BULLYING GOING ON, NOT THE PHYSICAL KIND BUT THE PSYCHOLOGICAL FORM OF MENTAL ABUSE. & THAT FROM A PROFESIONAL POINT OF VIEW IS WORSE. We need to have strictor provisions or mesures taken for these actions. I think we should stop worring about the GYM floor & start FOCUSING ON SOME SORT OF MANDATORY BULLY INTERVENTION PROGRAM.

I love Sacred Heart School ! It is by far the best Catholic School around! The teachers and principles are Wonderful! and the proof is in the pudding! My child along with most of the other children recieved scholarships this year! Almost all made the schools that they wanted! All of my children love it here and I would reccomend it to anyone! I would not go anywhere else! The principle has done an amazing job building up the school and does not have an easy ! He is always concerned for the school finances and I appreciate that about him! Most other schools are barely making it! Someone has to worry about the gym floor and the boilers! Thank you Mr. Farrell! Thank you also to the wonderful teachers who always have taken time when my children have needed extra help! Great School ! The Best!
