I have had my children go through UPK, K, 1st and 2nd so far. I have experienced very talented teachers in all those grades. I'm not sure of the posting that says they ignore special needs. My child was with the best teacher in the grade and this teacher also was given 4 special needs children. They get the best teachers and TONS of one on one with teachers that come in just for them. So I can't agree with that statement by another parent. I can say that so far I have LOVED all the teachers that my kids have had. They really try hard to pair the right teacher with the right student according to needs and personality. I would rate Bloomfield as a first rate school.
My son was in K this past school year, and we had a wonderful experience! His teacher was very involved and my son absolutely showed tremendous growth in reading, spelling, writing, math, music, etc. I will agree with what another parent wrote in regard to some bullying from other students. I'm not sure how this is handled.
I have had several issues they use 1 year teachers in K and 1st grades and my child did not learn the basics of the ABC's and 123'S and yet they moved him on how are they suppose to do math if they don't know what number is higher or lower or read a word if they don't even know the letter and its sound ! This really needs to be looked into before they leave those grades !
I have had issues with this school from every angle. Bullying is an ignored issue. I've seen a lot of incompetence from staff there. I've run into intolerance for special needs. I will say the ones who do their jobs, do it very weel. but it can be hard to come by.
My kids love the school. The teacher to child ratio is great. I love the fact of the one on one. Discipline is dealt with appropriately and does not ruin the child's self- esteem. Thank you, Bloomfield!
