For all the people who wrote glowing reviews about their education from BHS, please note all the grammatical errors and misspellings IN your reviews. It does not speak well of the school OR your education if this how you compose a review as an adult.
if you read this I advise to not have your children attend this school. you will only find a couple of teachers that will care because the teachers in brentwood are so judgmental. if you dress like a kid that does bad they will help you in no way even though you might not be.
I'm a student in BHS and i love it here. Everyone thinks brentwood is a bad community because of the gangs drugs and fighting and whatnot but i feel that's in all schools not just brentwood. The staff here is amazing they will go out of their way just to make sure you have great grades attend extra help if you need and staying out of trouble. Brentwood has many classes to take for all students interests we have art classes music classes wood shop computer classes and ROTC. We also have great coaches our school is known for our soccer and basketball and our music program also ROTC drill team. Brentwood's green machine came in second place in the state. And the administrators do a great job keeping us in check. also the guidance staff helps with collage preparation. The students here are so friendly and hardly anyone gets bullied its a great place to make friends. overall i think brentwood is a pretty great school. (:
I am a former student in Brentwood High School. I enjoyed it there. Most of the teachers are friendly and helpful. Some teachers will call you and let you know that your child is failing. They recently added this new thing where you will get a phone if your child had missed or cut a class. They are really updating a lot. They have becoming more strict than before. I really enjoyed the school.
My kids went to Brentwood school and they loved it, I wish I never moved from long island, Brentwood is still nice at least my street is the same, handcock street, Brentwood , anyone out there from Brentwood? we are in florida now.
The High School is not as bad as some people pretend it is. I attended the Brentwood School district from 1st-12th grade. I graduated with a regents diploma & do have to say that there is BARELY anyone there that speaks spanish. I am hispanic & speak perfect english. Actually, I learned spanish in my high school spanish class. Most students attending this high school speak english, not spanish. That is such a racial statement. The teachers there actually care for their students & push them to succeed. How a student asserts them selves is a different story. I have been to and seen much worse high schools then Brentwood.
Both my daughters spent all their school years in the district and excelled at all they did. They have since graduated - both this year - one a year early, from Ross. I worked for the district for four years and it was by far one of the best jobs I ever had ! The teachers are very dedicated to their students even after they move on through the years....
I'm a student of BHS. It's not a good school.; one of the worst. It's good for people of Spanish decent or at least speak it. If you're American and don't speak Spanish, it's hard to get through; not to mention the gangs in that school. I've definitely been to better. Also, the math studies are horrible their.
Im a student of bhs. brentwood high school is such a good school, the teachers prepare you to go to college. in the area of sports great, they have studies for hispanic students. BHS is a great school to go
Im a student at ross high.I enjoy attending bhs.The teachers are great at teaching the material. They give us great and useful programs that will help us get into a good college.Overall this school is well prepared. I just believe that their is way to much students in each school.Ross high is a old school wich is realy small its hard to get 2 class under the 4 minutes they give us. Wich cause all the drama.Brentwood should build another high school.
I will rate brentwood high school 4 stars. My son has been kept busy and responsible and this will make him a good citizen, irrespective of testscores.
i feel like the students who are in the brentwood school district have a good chance. most of the problem have since graduated 07 and beyond have better facilities and teachers to go along. i feel they were waiting for the problem students such as myself to leave i thank bhs for my education although it didnt ready me for college as i thought
Brentwood High School does not get the recognition that it deserves. My son is a junior in the school. The teachers in this school really care and their level of expertise is outstanding. This is a large school district and it's difficult to accommodate everyone's needs, but Brentwood works very hard in achieving that goal. Brentwood's extracurricular activities are so broad. Besides basketball, football and lacrosse, there is fencing, track, golf, soccer, etc. to name a few. The coaches spend a lot of their own personal time with the kids and that is commendable. There is a club for everyone. What I would like to see is a lot more parent involvement. Children whose parents are involved in their day to day studies seem to excel a little more. I just don't think there is enough of it.
Its a good school, my kids love it. The staff are great and understanding.
Brentwood High School is located in the dead center of Long Island. Although some may think that Brentwood schools are not good, I strongly disagree. As a former BHS student, and current parent of a Brentwood student, I would like to say that the education that a student gets from attending here is very unique. While you experience a very wonderful melting pot of cultures and sample for yourself a taste of the 'real world.' I recommend without reservation the Brentwood School District to any parent who wishes their child a bright future and a strong foundation.
When I first relocated to Brentwood from Freeport, which is also ethnically diverse, I was told by my neighbors that the Brentwood School District was great. As I acclaimated myself with my neighborhood, I was then told how horrible the school district was simply because of the racial mix. How wrong these people were! The world is not merely black and white, and we should be able to get along and cohabitate with people from all backgrounds. We should take a lesson from our children and see people for who they are, not what they are. I happen to love the ecclectic mix that Brentwood has to offer. I look forward to my daughter attending Ross/Sonderling in the very near future. School like life is what you make it.
I must say, being a Brentwood graduate has prepared me for many great things. The Brentwood education is a great one and the diversity of the students is second to none. I am proud of my high school and look forward to being a teacher there in the very near future. The education and love shown to me and my siblings from my educators is what drives me to continue on and come back and teach just as they taught me. True, many great teachers are retiring and leaving the district, but have no fear, for the future is here, and we are ready to step in without missing a beat.
Being a BHS graduate, I have to say the rep is a mistatement. I am proud to say that I was not one the students involved in the disruptions, which may I add, happens in any school. So why is BHS given its bad rep...is it because of its outstanding ethinic diversity??? Other schools should take note. That diversity is what would help alot of adults deal with others in the work field, a privilege that was had in BHS at an early age. The clubs, arts, sports, and music programs are great. Can't say that I missed out in a great education by being taught at BHS.
