We were thrilled when our daughter was accepted for the first kindergarten class last year. She started the school year not knowing how to read and was literally reading within weeks. I was pleased to learn that she would study geography, social studies, and science in addition to the standard reading and math that is so stressed in schools right now. I was amazed each day that she came home telling me what she learned each day. Her teachers communicated with us with notes and through email and were receptive to any questions we had. It is unfortunate that the prior reviewer gave the school a low rating based solely on one interaction with the school and before her child even attended the school. I believe my daughter is receiving an excellent education thus far at Icahn 7 and I would not hesitate to remove her if I felt she wasn't.

I was excited to find out my daughter was swlected to attend this new charter school, knowing the academic ratings of the other Icahns, despite the neighborhood, I was still hoping it was going to offer my child a challeging cirriculum. Once I met and spoke with the principal, my excitement went out the window. She seemed cold and condesceding. As a new parent, she didnt give me a good feeling. I attended the orientation and we didn't get a tour of the building or the other classrooms, when I had question for her, she seemed to be annoyed that I even had questions to ask. the principal sets the tone of a school ans that's the reason why I decided not to send my child there!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

Oops! We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Public and charter school test scores for most states come from the state Department of Education. The most common reasons we might not have this data are either that not enough students took the test or that the school was recently opened, and its scores have not yet been reported.

Oops! We currently do not have any student information for this school. We rely on the state Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and in some cases school administrators such as registrars and principals for this data.
