Parents and teachers beware. The administration in this school is very "hands off" and they avoid communication and meetings. They are manipulative and sometimes verbally aggressive and abusive. The school has many students in need of evaluation and services but special needs are also ignored and avoided. There are mental health issues not being addressed and children are becoming more and more violent. Sometimes parents encourage and support fighting. Teachers leaving by the dozens every year is a serious red flag.
Many students don't receive homework daily, some bilingual classes receive too much homework. Some teachers forget to give homework on Monday's and provide the children with the sheet on Wednesdays and expect the student to catch up .
Principal doesn't know what see's doing, they cancel meetings with parents all the time, No afterschool Programs, To reach out to a teacher, its a long process, incidents at school are not communicated in a timely manner. Majority of the staff is new, 25+ teachers and staff left in June 2015. Don't recommend to no one. Teachers are passing students without that the children progessing. I have a child in my care in the fifth grade , ready at a second grade level.
I love this school this school did not only attend to my needs as a student but had many extracurricular activities available to students after school and this eventually led to my involvement in a drama class for the school. And Ms.Schweitzer the former principal of the school was great and she was always trying to make than enviornment for the students comfortable and fun. My teacher who I had for 4 consecutive years was the best teacher i have ever had. She greatly prepared me well for my present school and my life has been great and I would like to thank both her and 109 for placing me in the situation I am in today and I hope this school will be a place of intellects in the years to come. However one thing I wish all public schools should do is stop censoring what teachers say.
